I won't disagree with any of that on a tactical level. However, on the strategic level, if you're identified as a hard target you're more than likely going to avoid the fight entirely.
Whenever I OC I try to dress kind of snazzy so folks assume I'm someone official and that big ol' hand cannon won't be the end of the battle should we have one. I've had more than a few people start to approach and then turn around mid, "Yo man... " and head in the other direction. I'd much rather avoid an incident entirely than surprise someone should they choose to make it happen.

I learned a long time ago the body will go waaaaaaaay farther than we think it will - provided our mind will let it happen. But as a fat civilian puke I can't help but think of cheeseburgers and stuff when I'm out there running. I even ruck up sometimes and head out for long ruck marches (with PT belt, of course!) and the whole time all I'm thinking about is getting to Chipotle when I'm done.

Here we have yet another law designed to protect people from themselves. Laws shouldn't be made to limit our freedoms. They should only be made to regulate the unwanted infringement of our rights by others.
If people (of any age) want to get shnockered, they should be allowed to do it. But the moment they do something dumb because they're shnockered, then we have a problem. The state of their shnockeredness is irrelevant.

At present, we have laws against being under the influence of alcohol. You don't have to do anything otherwise illegal - simply possessing it in your system is enough. I believe that to be a violation of our liberty.

DUI laws are a glaring example of this. Simply driving your car in an otherwise safe manner, while under the influence of alcohol, is a violation of the law. Compare that to not wearing your seat belt. You're not harming anyone else on the road yet it's still illegal. A cop on a motorcycle (who wears no seatbelt) can kidnap you, by force, for not wearing your seatbelt. To keep you safe.

Somewhere along the way we forgot what liberty was all about. We wanted to protect ourselves from each other and then someone had the bright idea that we should be protected from ourselves.

Also, it's important to note, providing overwatch for citizens engaged in lawful protest and security for families in danger are both defensive actions. As Americans, we've been authorized to use firearms for our own self defense since before we even had a country of our own.

But the thing is, entitlement in other countries only gets you so far. Here, you can stay fat with your entitlement issues alone. "How is I'm supposed to eat when don't nobody be givin me no jobs?"

The majority of women (yes, I said majority) in the US cannot properly handle their womanly attributes because their less attractive sisters have ensured they're no longer empowered to do so without being a #######, cocktease, etc. A woman cannot be taken seriously if she's attractive.
Keep in mind, it's the women themselves who've set up this system.
Men have traditionally kept it real, "Send me the one with the biggest hooters." We'll take any smart, professional, accomplished woman seriously. But, at the end of the day, the attractive one with the nice cans will probably be "helping" you with the project.
The reason all this relates to RUB and this topic is because RUB women don't mind being taken seriously AND showing off the goods. "So he looked at my breasts? That's how I got his attention so he would listen to my proposal. He is man. Why I must cover my breast? He event not will be listen to me if I cover my breast. So, I must make show for him. Then I will be show him proposal. Then I will be take his job. Man so stupid!"

Abandoning all fashion sense and pride in being a woman. Becoming dumpy looking, "empowered" on the wrong issues, generally unhappy with their already nice life and unsupportive of their husbands, male friends and co-workers. Also, they'll become envious of more attractive women and feel like the whole world is out to destroy them.

Obama is going to invite the blue helmets here to sweep house to house and confiscate all personally owned firearms.

He was denied a permit to carry in public.
By the govt.
In states that have "may issue" laws this is still happening. "Black people dont need th right to defend themselves in public." In "shall issue" states, it cannot happen because the state must issue a permit to everyone that applies.
Im not sure how you "common sense" folks still havent connected the dots between subjective licensing and outright discrimination. Using mental health as the current scapegoat to hide racist policies is something I thought lefties would see right through. But, I guess youre so trained to be anti-equality and anti-gun it just doesnt feel right without taking something away from conservatives first.

The semantics are a cop (who was not carrying a gun like a normal citizen but instead like a government agent) shot someone. Folks here on VJ would have us believe the average citizenry cannot control themselves with guns but cops can.
