We were in the same situation, both of us fluent in Arabic and speak Arabic all the time together. My fiance is fluent in English but felt more comfortable doing his interview in Arabic to ensure that he understood the questions and was able to answer them with hesitating to translate the words he wanted to say. My fiance did his interview in Arabic. All he had to do was say "good morning" in Arabic and the interviewer conducted the entire interview in Arabic. He said the interviewer's Arabic was broken but my fiance was far more comfortable than he would have been doing it in English. Before the interview, we had planned that he would inform the interviewer that he was more comfortable doing the interview in Arabic but he never had to say that.
Hope that helps and good luck with the interview!

Here are the expedite criteria from USCIS:
    http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=16a6b1be1ce85210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD
Pregnancy in itself isn't normally considered a reason for expedite, unfortunately. If you face a surgery or an urgent medical procedure, related to the pregnancy or not, there may be a way to argue for expedite.
I know it's terrible to imagine giving birth to your first child with your husband in a totally different country. 4 years ago, I was in the same place as you are now. It was difficult, and I struggled mightily in those months leading up to the birth, but my husband was there by Skype the whole time and he even grabbed some video of my son's first moments of life, it's one of our favorite memories from that day/night. And when he finally met our son, 4 months later, it was such a beautiful moment, and it made all the heartache worth it. If you can, try as much as you can to mentally focus on this baby, on the happy memories that you will have together as a family as the baby grows up into a child, on the things you look forward to about being a mom, and try to let the immigration process be its own current. Which I know is way harder to do than to say. Being pregnant during immigration processing is just so scary and stressful, and it certainly doesn't do anything to alleviate the anxiety that can increase as a byproduct of pregnancy hormones but I found out the hard way that if you give in to that stress and the frightened, negative thoughts, it can make the final weeks and labor so much more difficult. Do all you can to be prepared for each stage of your husband's immigration process, research and make sure you have all documents in order, and then try to prioritize your health and pregnancy as much as you can. That way, whether you get to have your husband there or not, you will know you've done all you can for both the immigration process and for your baby's health. Even though being together for a baby's first days is ideal and much better than the alternative, there are lots of us who have been through it and found that the whole experience made us stronger!

It's very possible to get an earlier date. There's about 29 folk who took my advice, these last 14 months, and got earlier dates using the exact method that I've described. It works ! It's not gauranteed, but if the IV unit can accomodate, they do accomodate.

Unless they've changed things, they typically send the case out the day after the interview date has been assigned. If your case is still there though, you might want to send the request to NVC. They'll probably then forward the request to the embassy.

That's correct. NVC is asking for the original document you obtained from the issuing authority. Usually that's called a certified copy. If it's in the local language where the interview will occur, there's no need for a translation. (There are rare exceptions like Guangzhou, but Morocco is not one of those exceptions.) Just send them the actual document without translation.

What is this "rule" about Palestinian males and AP ? It seems you are projecting some of your own attitudes.
Anyway, here is a case in point for you: My husband's visa was issued exactly 4 days after the missing police report was received at the consulate.
And this quick turn-around is not unusual for Jerusalem. Certainly, some cases involve APs - and yes, sometimes lengthy APs - but some don't. It has nothing to do with being a "Palestinian male" - it depends on many other factors, including which consulate is processing the case (not all Palestinians are processing through Jerusalem - many are in other countries, like Roosha's husband.)

Qatar Airways is one of the best, I love flying with them when I can. Very good airline, too bad all their rates are a LOT more expensive when you buy from Qatar!
    So we're back.....AND APPROVED!! YAAAAAAAAAAAY
At the end of the interview the woman who interviewed us said they're going to keep the passport and they'll call in a couple of weeks, when visa is ready. I was like couple? you mean two? and she's like well it usually doesn't take that long, probably this week max next. So I asked whether there was any more processing and she told me about paperwork and stuff that we might have to complete at POE but no more processing from their side. That means no AP right? I mean I feel like I can't celebrate until I see that visa stamped in his passport!!

I had my CR-1 visa interview on the 24th and the visa has been approved. Total time i spent inside the consulate was 1 hour. I was not asked for any tax documents. The CO asked very few questions and asked for wedding pictures, he just glanced through the pictures quickly and had no questions. Once he handed me a sheet of paper which had instructions to pay the additional immigrant visa fee of $165 which I was told, will be given only after the visa is approved, i was still not sure if my interview was over and i am approved. Only when the officer wished me " Have a good life in America" i realised that visa has been approved. I still asked the VFS lady who was walking around " Is that all?" .She then said, yes and i can leave and if i need the passport to be couriered to my home address i need to register by paying Rs.300 at the exit gate, which i did and left.
After all the wait and the eager moments spent for approvals and dates in the past 9 months, finally this journey is over and i thank all the members of visa journey who has given continuous support and guidance during this journey. I wish Good Luck to all who are still in this journey and i wish they all reach their destinations and i hope the journey is less stressful to all of you.

Mady, Think of it this way. Its an office and people do things differently but in the end its the same. Maybe "Mary" gets a stack of files and scans all the bar codes before she starts on them. So all the cases show in the system. Even if she has not looked at them yet. Then maybe "Fred" Looks and reviews the file. Then scans it and marks it completed. That would explain why some show for days and others go from not showing / just showed that day to completed.... Just a thought

Forgot to say that when I called after my case was expedited and sent to the embassy leaving my DS-230 and civil documents orphaned at NVC the operators kept telling me they hadn't received my IV packet yet. Supervisors were only aware that it was there because I convinced them it was by saying I had tracked it as received on the 18th. Yes, they have a serious problem with keeping track of stuff after it arrives in the mail room and before it's pulled from the "shelf" of cases. Thank the Booble, I only need to go through this process once.

Just an FYI for long time VJ users. NVC does open your mail the day it arrives in the mail room and rubber stamp it with the date it arrived. We received our files back from NVC with the DS-230 stamped on every page.
