First and foremost I am sorry this is happening to you. I am a state domestic violence investigator. There are federal laws that protect YOU. If I was in your situation this is what I WOULD DO. I would contact an organization that could help me. I would get away from this guy/abuser as SOON AS POSSIBLE. File Police reports for abuse. If you had difficulty breathing when he strangled, not choked you, this is a felony in my state and I'm pretty sure also yours. The correct term is strangled. You did not choke on a fish bone, he strangled you...there's a big difference there. I would get to a safe place, such as a womans shelter to protect myself. I can't tell you what to do but I would do these things immediately then worry about the visa later. This guy sounds very dangerous, you need to protect yourself first. It sounds like you might qualify for a U-Visa but you will have to check on that. First get to a safe place. Get a safety plan in place then worry about the visa process. Good luck and God bless.

I'm sorry but I strongly disagree with you on this. What you are giving is in my humble opinion very dangerous advice. The guy she describes sounds very dangerous at this point. He has "STRANGLED HER" at least once she reports where she felt as if she was fgoint to pass out. This can cause lasting effects and of course even death. This person is DANGEROUS. Her having him arrested and put into "detention" and then bailing him out is a BIG MISTAKE. That reinforces that he has the power, not her. That she can't live without him. Giving him a red warning...very dangerous. I would never recommend this to any victim of abuse.

Sorry maybe this is a dumb question but why didn't you add her to your insurance the day you were married? I added my wife to my employers health insurance even before she arrived in US to be sure she would be covered once she landed here.

Zoila and I arrived in Honolulu together on Saturday 7/20/2013. We are now on my home island. Immigration was a bit nervewracking in Honolulu...but all questions asked of my wife were questions she knew the answers to since we have a bonafide marriage. Immigration officer had me stand back as she asked my wife 10 or 15 questions. What is your address going to be, your husbands parents names, etc... No surpirises. The Immigration officer (female) was very kind to my wife and I. She called me up after interviewing Zoila and explained the AOS procedures to both of us. Then after a few minutes took my wifes fingerprints and said those three words we both have been waiting to hear for over 8 month now, "WELCOME TO AMERICA" Wow, we both wanted to shout be we managed to control ourselves although I got pretty teary-eyed. There is something about coming HOME to America each and every time I return but this was the sweetest entry into the US I have ever made in my life. I was with my beautiful Filipina wife...nothing could have been better. Then we exited immigration and proceeded to our interisland flight arriving there at about 6:00 p.m. to find my brothers wife and their three grandchildren there to greet us with handfuls of flower lei. Then my oldest son came and picked us up. One of the best days of my life so far. Thanks to all ot you who have helped, thanks for all of your prayers, thanks for all your kindness. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!! We wish everyone the best and will be praying for all of you that are waiting for the day we just experienced. Aloha and Mahalo Aloha Ke Akua

I hope he does not get the visa. I don't want my children to get one of these deadly diseases. What is it with people? I mean MORAL purposes? How about the moral dilemma if you come to US and turns out you have an infectious disease? And say one child or several fall ill and even one of them dies? Does anyone have any moral objection to that? Get real, vaccines SAVE LIVES EVERY DAY in this world. Sure once in a while a person has an allergic reaction and yes once in a while someone dies but the numbers are miniscule as compared to the non-vaccinated population...sorry but the anti-vacinnation people don't care about anyone but themselves. They are selfish and self centered.

Series of questions directed at me, the USC Petitioner from the US Embassy Counsel at the interview in Manila on July 9, 2013.
1.) "HAVE YOU BEEN PREVIOUSLY MARRIED?" My reply, YES
2.) "DO YOU HAVE ANY CHILDREN FROM YOUR PREVIOUS MARRIAGE?" My reply, YES.
3.) "HOW OLD ARE YOUR CHILDREN FROM YOUR FIRST MARRIAGE?" My answer, 25, 30 & 36.
4.) "SO YOUR NEW WIFE IS NEARLY HALF THE AGE OF YOUR OLDEST SON?" (My wife is 19) My reply, YES.
A 10 second pause and her next words to my wife and I, "CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR VISA IS APPROVED."
So I guess those that told me that age does not seem to matter were correct. (At least in the Philippines.)
Thank GOD for HE is good all the time!

With all due respect the news reports and studies over the past few years have disproven the immunization/autism link. Google some stats on immunizations and see how many thousands of lives have been saved since the advent of modern time and immunizations. I say this with all the kindness and love in my heart. So excited, can't sleep. Wife's interview is tomorrow morning in Manila. We are together again! We just spent a few days with her family in Cebu saying goodbye.....a great time was had by all. Wife is sleeping....I am not. I keep checking the interview appointment letter to make sure it is not this morning. Paranoia is setting in I fear, hahaha. It's been a long and arduous process and hopefully it all comes together tomorrow. The appointment letter list several items but the codes next to the items indicate that all of the required docum ents have already been received and accepted. Marriage certificate, birth certificates, etc... We have a complete set of the entire application with us plus a copy of each and every document, plus original passports, ID's, etc.... Why do I fear that we are missing something? I have read others talking about receiving a few letters after the appointment letter??? All we received was the appointment letter via email with the list of all docs that have been submitted and accepted, etc... Am I missing somwthing here? Just wanna make sure we have everything we need because appointment is set for 6:15 a.m. so we will be heading out of hotel at 4:00 a.m. I guess to line up? Any suggestions??? Aloha Ke Akua

I am a government investigator and my position is funded in part by VAWA. She might have come just to get her green card and her sister might be advising her to call the Police, etc... Only problem here is if that was the case and if they were as smart as everyone assumes would she/they not have waited until the process is complete? This would be premature on their part. (I say their because we are assuming that the sister in coaching/helping her?) Is it possible that she just got really scared because you raised your voice at her? Is it possible that she just felt frightened? Or has it been a scheme all along? I would agree you should not be alone with her if she is in fact building a case for a U-Visa. But it seems like no one here has addressed the possibility that she just gor really frightened. I hope that is the case and I hope the two of you can get back together and work it out but as everone has warned: BEWARE. I would suggest getting a complete copy of the Police Report before proceeding to see exactly what she reported to Police. If you are innocent you likely have nothing to fear. The Police did not arrest you so she likely did not report that you physically assaulted her in any way. Good luck and God Speed.
I hope everyone else is wrong. I hope she comes around and the two of you spend the rest of your lives together in matrimonial bliss...
