  1. I am submitting my N400 tomorrow and according to the document checklist here:

    https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/article/attachments.pdf

There isn't much of documents requested...

    Is it only those:

    1. Photocopy of my P.R. card (both sides)

    2. 2 photos

    3. check, money order or form g-1450

    4. Evidence that my spouse has been a US citizen in the past 3 years

    5. Current marriage certificate

    6. Tax returns (Last 3 years ok?)

    7. Bank statements - How far back?

    8. Lease, Rental agreements etc

    What else am I missing?

I'm working on the same thing. For example, auto or life insurance bills showing both of your names, and go from the beginning-middle-end of each year (Jan-Jun-Dec) are enough. You don't need to submit copies of every single bill.

  3. This is what the instructions say; "Answer all questions fully and accurately. If a question does not apply to you (for example, if you have never been married and the question asks “Provide the name of your current spouse”), type or print “N/A,” unless otherwise directed. If your answer to a question, which requires a numeric response, is zero or none (for example, “How many children do you have” or “How many times have you departed the United States”), type or print “None,” unless otherwise directed."

Read through These instructions for more guidance! Good luck to you.

Thank you. I've already read these instructions over and over. it says "type or print N/A" , that's still vague because there are other related boxes to the same question and we don't know if we need to type "N/A" in every single one of them or just the first one. Thank you anyway

  4. Inputs for this thread are extremely appreciated.

I'm preparing my N-400 and many questions that don't apply to me have multiple boxes for typing, Should I type NA in every single box? In the other hand, when you check "no* as an answer, you don't need to fill out the boxes that follow and that are related to the question. Should I leave the rest of boxes blank?

Also, you can see I'm saying NA instead of N/A because as many people in here know the newer N-400 doesn't accept the slash "/" character. Is NA without slash ok?

    Thank you.

  5. Successful how? Because he got a visa? That's not successful. When he comes back here after he's got his citizenship and his finances in order and he's STILL with his 28 yr his senior wife, then I'll applaud his success.

Mithra, since i came in here i noticed that you can't be positive at all at MENA men who are getting to their US wives whether with or without age difference, and i know where you're coming from, i agree, it is a 3 decades between me & my wife, i took the risk in the first place to have her living with me in Morocco, that's how it started, i am not a desperate low life Moroccan guy to be seeking a one way ticket and i am not a toy boy as well, so if you witnessed certain walk-away stories those are particular and don't apply to everyone, try to find out the reason why those deceived US wives didn't join Visajourney.com before their hubbies left, at the same time, try to see that there are thousands with age difference happy together whether in the US or in MENA.

  6. i not write of 'visa stamp', for this reading exercise wink.png Well, I did use 'visa stamp' in a sentence, but you'll note that this is the thing GLUED into the passport, takes an entire page. You've shown a pic of the endorsement stamp, fwiw, given at entry at the POE.

Please read the visa. when you see the word 'endorsement' or 'endorses' - yer in the right place.

    Yeah i saw that, damn!

Hint: what Darnell wants you to look for says something like "upon endorsement serves as a temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year" devil.gif

    i exercised my eyes lol

  7. Your GC will be mailed to you soon, so no, don't go home. You are now a permanent resident with the right to live here forever. USCIS is still working and will make your Greencard.

The shutdown won't last a year. Last time it happened it lasted 3 weeks, and that was 17 years ago. It's very unusual.

In the meantime you can research how your skills and certification translate here in the US. You might need to get recertified. Good luck.

that's awesome, great tips my friend, תודה

  8. Your passport, visa stamp, and endorsement stamp . That gives you 1 year of presence.

The endorsement stamp turns the visa stamp into a temporary I-551 document, a 1 year green card.

Don't believe me? Pull out yer passport, read a bit.

    --

Later, when your green card arrives, that'll be your documentation giving you a legal stay.

Now, it's just the stuff in your passport.

Ok, sounds good ish! thank you again Darnell

  9. Welcome to the US! Don't worry, you are a Legal Permanent Resident now, even though you don't have your green card in hand yet. As everyone else has said, the stamp in your passport serves as a temporary green card that's good for one year.

Also just wanted to point out that your IR-1 visa was a one-time-use visa. You have used it and it no longer has any bearing on anything.

I see what you mean, it's good to know the stamps is good for 1 year, i hope the shutdown won't be extended till then, but then if i am without my GC + no SS, should i leave the US? do you know if it it will be easy to get another visa from my country to re-enter the US? thanks alot for the info

  10. You have your GC already, at least a temporary version. You can use the stamp in your passport as a GC for a year. You will need a SSN to get your taxes taken out properly though, and SSA is not giving out new numbers, which really sucks sad.png

You might be able to talk to an employer to make an arrangement, though. You can show you are work-authorized with your passport stamps. You just don't have the SSN for taxes. Good luck.

yup, it sucks, but good to hear the stamps is good for 1 year, im wondering, should i go back home if the shutdown is extended until 1 year from now and without me receiving my green card and ssn? is it the renewable? just wondering, thanks a lot for your info.

  11. I'm a holder of family-based visa (IR-1= 10 years green card), entered the US 15 days ago, but with this government shutdown, social security offices can't help me, neither online, meanwhile, i'm waiting for the delivery of my green card - maybe it is undeliverable due to the gov shutdown!

My visa says that it expires on Feb 2014, am i illegally staying in the US if i don't get my social security or green card after expiry date?

Which documentation that gives me a legal stay, the green card or the social security or both? Thank you so much for your information

  12. I'm a holder of family-based visa (IR-1= 10 years green card), entered the US 15 days ago, but with this government shutdown, social security offices can't help me, neither online, meanwhile, i'm waiting for the delivery of my green card.

The questions i have are: What allows me to apply for employment, the social security number, or the green card, or both?

I have my original driver license from my country translated into English, what to do to drive a car in the US?

    Thank you for your inputs

  13. Iam married to an american woman more than 4 years ago,but since she left after marriage she didn't come back,we were married in Morocco,

so How can I divorce her?

i am asking anybody knows or had this experiance before to help me with all advices I need.

    thank you

  14. Before you go to Algeria, get yourself an accordion file folder, and put all boarding passes, receipts, and other paper evidence in it to use in the future if you decide to file.

Aside from that, wipe marriages and visas from your mind. Focus your energies on getting to know him and determining whether you are actually compatible face-to-face.

All you need to file is one visit, but I would recommend getting as much in-person time as you can. Yes, it looks better to immigration, but much more importantly, it gives your relationship a stronger foundation. After all, isn't the ultimate goal not simply to get a visa but to have a happy and long-lasting marriage?

As far as older woman-younger man relationships, from reading the archives it seems like there are 3-4 couples that made it past the five-year mark. I don't think any of them are still active. As far as current posters, I think mimolicious has an age gap of 20 years (although you wouldn't be able to tell from her picture!)

    Good luck.

I & my wife have 28 years age gap, i'm the young one, and we made it just recently on Aug 2013, i got my IR-1 visa, most people had no hope for us, but with comittement we made it at one of the toughest US consulate in the world....Casablanca.

It took 2 1/2 years since the date of filing with a denial + NOIR to finaly get approved, lots of drama pain frustration limbo but it is still possible with such significant age difference.

I'm here in the US waiting for an end to this government shutdown so i can obtain my social security #. Plz don't be discouraged, you can make it, you're blessed to be here in Visajourney prior to filing, learn as much as possible, and i agree with Futureberberwife, get to know your hubby deeply, learn from others' mistakes, and ignore those who try to discourage you, alright? Peace

  15. Update - In regards to the documents, we had everything correct in our files. It was NVC doing what it does best, screwing with people. After speaking to 3 different people at NVC I finally reached an agent that basically told me to resend a copy of the documents that were supposedly missing (NOT) and state in a letter, "These are the correct forms, please send case forward." Because NVC doesn't make a determination they only ensure that all the documents are in place. I did what she said and didn't have any more delays. My husband was approved a week after the interview and arrived in the States 3 weeks after the interview!!! We are doing awesome!!!

Congrats, we've been through that, they lost my I-130 but found it later.

  16. Thank you for your answer. We have now been scheduled for an interview on October 2, 2013. Any advice to my husband about his second interview?

Congrats! thats good to hear, now, your husband needs to make sure he has all civil documents ready, he may need a new medical examination, plz make inquiries with the consulate regarding the civil items he needs, remind them the exact date of your husband's previous interview so they can tell you what items need to be updated, in the other hand, your husband need to have proofs of your ongoing relationship since his previous interview (copies of emails, photos if you've visited him since then, skype or similar chat histories, phone logs,etc..) just think of any useful item you can use to proof that your marriage/relationship is bona fide and not a sham, your husband has to behave serious, making the CO understand that the previous rejection was unfair and that you've done everything to cooperate with the USCIS and DOS, instead of acting like he is "begging" waiting for CO's mercy, that's how i acted with the CO last time, curteous but serious, confident, giving all details that could help despite the CO's interupption.

Rarely when they deny after a reaffirmation, just prepare and let me know what i could do for you

  17. Here's a major hint, for less 'USCIS involvement'.

You gots a marriage date of 2010-10-11.

When at the POE, is best to talk with a CBP goon or even CBP supervisor to get the designation upgraded from CR-1 to IR-1.

Why? That's a 10 year green card, first issuance.

Can write a note on a piece of paper about this, paperclip inside the passport, so your spouse not forget this at the POE. POE can be stressful, coming off a long international flight, but it is the place to get the designation upgraded.

(Unsure what was granted at the interview, but the POE is the place to nail down the IR-1 designation)

I'm attaching a zoomed photo of my visa where it shows that i got an IR-1, do i still need to talk to a CBP to upgrade my designation at the POE?

by the way, i'm the beneficiary non-USC, it's me who's been posting threads in here since the start. Thanks a lot

  18. Holy Molies !!! That is fricking incredible. I'm so happy for you two !!! see? almost NO AP for you, on this 2nd interview. YAY !!!

I've half-a-mind to suggest a mutton tajine for celebration - but only half-a-mind.....

Keep us updated when you have news of the pond jump? and any POE stuff? When yer able, edit yer official VJ timeline as well to note the new data points.

Why half-a-mind? when it comes to Tajine, it should be full-mind. Sure, i'm happy celebrating now but looking back at what we've been through, PHEWWWWWW !

I'm planning to write a detailed timeline on my profile wall with descriptions and observations since filing so users can have an idea, though, im not done yet with immigration. regards!
