  1. So, is there a way to to this better? Obviously people telling someone personally that they fit a typical pattern is going to hurt, and maybe even make them feel like it's "us against the world" Romeo and Juliet type of thing, which will make them less likely to take heed. What about a non-confrontational pinned topic that outlines typical patterns, with third-party, dispassionate warnings (like the Moroccan Embassy one for a start). Maybe members of each subforum could make a list of what is normal and what is not, for those with no travel experience (another typical scam pattern). Then maybe links to sites about domestic violence or the like?

Definitely a great idea, but why choosing the Moroccan Embassy?

  2. My husband was asked "What do you love about your wife", and "What do you dislike about your wife"...... and what would he do if they didn't give him the visa? Among lots of other questions....From the way the interview went though, I think they had already made their minds up for the most part before he ever arrived but meeting him was the clincher for him to get the visa.

Did your husband get the visa approved at his initial interview? no AP ?

  3. How do you and your fiancee communicate (aside from chatting) if you can't speak English? Be prepared to answer that one if you, in fact, cannot speak English.

Telling the CO to find that information for him or herself will be like shooting yourself in the foot. "I don't remember" isn't a good enough answer. If you have the chat logs, read them and find that answer for yourself. Don't be lazy. Do you want the visa or not?

You're right, don't just be truthful, be smart.

  4. You have 'basic' administrative processing. The IV Unit is not finished processing your casefile - something is off on their timing. Could be namechecks, could be security checks. Per 'that letter', Casablanca IV needs nothing more from you.

You must wait till they be done.

You can ask your USCitizen Spouse to call into DoS Hotline, once a week or once every two weeks, and ask for casefile status.

At some point, the administrative processing/administrative review will be completed, and the casefile status at DoS Hotline will change. When Casablanca IV is finished (per that letter), they will telephone you.

    Good Luck !

Thank You, i got the DOS hotline # from your page, it's the same # my wife called several times but the machine kept her waiting, yeah she needs to get a human by pressing 1 and then 0 for a live operator, got that, thanks.

I have updates: last Thursday the consulate called me, they said that my I-130 has not been sent from the NVC along with the other documents. The consulate replied to my email as well, here's what their email says:

    " Dear Sir/Madam,

    Thank you for your e-mail.

Your case is pending. We are awaiting some documents from NVC to continue processing Mr. Lachgar’s visa. We will contact him as soon as we can continue with your case.

We hope we have been of assistance to you.

    Regards"

So, i got the 221(g) AP, and also my I-130 has not been sent to the consulate, so i had my interview without my I-130 being there! the consulate's representative described that as an Error.

I need to mention that the NVC on the last stage prior to the interview, rejected our original marriage certificate which was previously approved by the USCIS, they said that our marriage certificate needs to be issued by a religious (Koranic) court! so i started working on it, but while doing that THEY SCHEDULED MY INTERVIEW! eventhough i haven't provided what they needed.

  5. Your wife should email the consulate, explain the situation and request an update. Does the 221g have your name and case info on it?

Thanks for the reply, No the 221(g) i got don't have my name and case info on it, what would be the difference if my 221(g) has those information?

below is my 221(g) thanks for reviewing it and offering any help appreciated:

  6. They had the following problems with us:

-He didn't explain why he looked for a woman online

-We moved too fast, which tells them he was looking for the first person who would even talk with him

-They claim that one interview, he said it was my idea to go to morocco, but that in the second interview, he said it was his idea (I made the first comment about going to meet him before I made my mind about being with him. 2 to 3 days later, he said I am welcome to come visit)

-Hubby said we fell in love when we met in person, but our chats show we felt that way before. (Hubby meant to say that was when we REALLY knew we wanted to be together)

-Hubby knows nothing about my ex hubby, and hubby could only speak in general terms when discussing his feelings for me

We knew we moved quickly, but damn it, its over three years we have been together now. Been to see him 4 times now. So, now I have mom, sisters, myself and hubby writing letters, and I will send chats, texts, and phone records to show we talk every single day. They stated they want to see how we interacted before engagement, after engagement, after denial, after marriage. Thankfully, nothing has changed. I talk to this man almost every single day! LOL I am actually happy and relieved to finally know what the exact problem is. So here we go!

What did you mean when you said you will send chats, texts, and phones records? did you mean you will do that while your petition was under AP or what? thanks

  7. What does the 221g say? Second did they keep your passport? Bottom line you got a 221g when they decided to review the case is irrelevant, they will review and let you know. In our case it was a 62 day wait before my husband got called back for a second interview then they decided on an approval. You need to call DOS as stated earlier they can tell you what type of review you are under if at all (AP - local, AR - at DC). Either way it could be a long wait. The state department website states if placed on review call for a status update after 60 days. Dealing with consulate is for not they will not answer your questions. We had a friend with same situation as ours and he got called for second interview after 14 days and was denied. There is no way for anyone to predict what they will decide. If they kept your packet or visa they are still processing the request for a decision.

Our 221g stated they were reviewing our conversations.

    Good luck,

My 221(g) does not say anything ( i'm attaching the copy of my 221(g) along with this reply).

    They didn't keep my passport.

My wife called the DOS but she had no success to talk to any person, the machine put her on await several times.

My wife called the consulate 5 days after my interview, she found out that i'm under AP but my petition wasn't returned to the USCIS.

I have some updates: I've sent an email to the consulate, specifically to the CO, i knew her name because she was the same person who notarized the summary of my marriage certificate earlier (2 weeks prior to my interview) at the American Citizen Service (ACS) of the consulate, i had to do that because the NVC rejected our original marriage certificate that we submitted to them and which was approved previously by the USCIS (i didn't know why!!), the NVC wanted our marriage certificate to be issued by a Quranic Court which what it was, as we got married here in Morocco in 2010, so was pushed to make an appointment with the consulate in order to notarize the summary of our marriage certificate which what was done by the lady who, later will be my CO to interview me, and who interrupted me severely when i tried answering her questions and to clarify very important things to her regarding my employment and the money transfers I've received from my wife throughout the 3 years & half. Unfortunately, because i had to be polite & courteous, i surrendered to let her ask further questions.

One of the consulate representatives called me the next day after my email to them, he explained that the NVC didn't send my I-130 along with the packet so my case is pending!!! i said why, he said, it's an error we're sorry but you should know that your petition is not leaving Morocco for any reason. I received an email from the consulate on the same day saying the same thing, despite their auto-response email that tells people to allow 10 days for the consulate to reply.

So, I'm under AP and my I-130 has not been forwarded from the NVC along with other documents, i think the I-130 is the most essential item in there!!

What do you think i should do, knowing that my packet is remaining ? and please, could you explain what the local, AR - at DC mean ?

Below is a copy of the 221(g) that i got , thanks a lot for helping me.

    <a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=2jfm8ug" target="_blank"><img src="http://i46.tinypic.com/2jfm8ug.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

  8. We got our Notice of Intent to Revoke...I am so nervous now! Denial was based on inconsistencies in his interview. Just wanted to keep you updated. I am so scared right now :(

The CO who interviewed me used the tactics she learned to jumble the whole thing, not to mention that she exaggerated on interrupter me, it was really severe.

I think your fiance/spouse experienced the same JUMBLE, i'm sure your fiance/spouse did well but the CO caused the whole inconsistencies which caused your denial, but happily you're together now, consgrats.

  9. Hello,

I didn't know that i was carrying a 221(g) on my way back to home, i thought it was just a matter of a phone call as the consular officer said " ..mmm, until i'm convinced i need to review your proofs of correspondence between you and your wife, then we will call you" but i was already given a 221(g) even before facing the CO but i found that out just today. The 221(g) was given to me - obviously i didn't know - along with our forwarded original documents from NVC, it was about 1 hours before the interview, a lady behind the window asked for my medical examination (i thought she is the CO but she wasn't) then she gave me a bunch of our original documents, but they were yes, our original documents + 211(g) that was mingled with the original docs. Is there anyone heard of similar incident? who is supposed to hand me a 211(g) or an approval, isn't it the CO?

Anyway, my 211(g) does not have the CO's handwritten statement - as it is the case for most 211(g) - that says " your file is being returned to the USCIS for further review" , i was just told by the CO that she's gonna review our proofs of correspondence (emails,cards,letters,etc...), she did not ask me for our photos together, or federal tax returns or other evidences, i think because we have submitted that last year to the USCIS (request for evidence) REF, i don't know why things were not as i expected.

DO i need to have my wife contacting her congressman/senator at this point? How can we know what's really happening to us without contacting the consulate as they don't answer the phone? Is it a possibility that eventhough my 211(g) doesn't have the " your file is being returned to the USCIS for further review" it could still occur?

    Thank you for help

  10. Hi guys! just wanna let you know that The date of my interview is scheduled on 25 September, I guess there are some VJ members who have the same date that They may meet Zyzz at Casablanca hahaha.

Oh by the way, my fiancee's birthday is 21 September.. time to kneel and pray and do the best i could to not disappoint my fiancee after her birthday, hoping to get not denied otherwise i'll end up getting hard attack or something hahaha.

    I miss you VJ members.

I forgot to say Good Luck, but more importantly, i want to add that being only truthful and honest is not ENOUGH, as i said, hit the points that the COs give high attention to, mostly financial.

Hello, i had my interview 3 days ago, it was a hell of an interview, i got a 221(g), so not yes or no so far, regardless if you're through K-1 or CR-1 or any other type of visa, YOU NEED TO SHOW HOW MUCH YOU ARE NEEDING THIS VISA, DO NOT BE EXTRA POLITE OR EXTRA RESPECTFUL!!

You need to hit the points that are really what the CO gives the highest attention to, for example, you need to give a convincing answer regarding your fiance's financial status, MAKE THINGS SHINE eventhough they don't shine, u know what i mean? if He / She interrupts you, you should respectfully say that you really need to make that answer clear to Him/Her, instead of just obey and continue answering like a machine.

  12. Ok, I'll say it one more time. The person who interviewed (not my spouse) knew the State but he was unable to point it out on a MAP. Secondly, Morocco does not care about how many trips. There are people who had 3 or 4 trips and they are denied compared to people with 1 or 2 trips that's approved. Even lawyers are afraid of Morocco because the Consulate has high denial rates and it determinations are random with one exception. Classism is a factor. But when the interview occurs I'll definitely let everyone know the results. There is no reason for us to be denied. I am a US citizen, I have the income, I own my home, both our families have been involved in this process, we qualify based on the requirements to file, and we have plenty of evidence to show legitimacy. But in Morocco this does not matter. It's all about the mood of the interviewer. They are awarded for the number of denials not the number of approvals. That's Morocco, folks.

The consular officer who interviewed me here in Casablanca was an American girl who interrupted me while answering her questions, so while i'm answering she asks another question without at least saying Ok or Alright, which made me little nervous, ofcourse i got a 221(g) which was mingled with the original documents that O & my wife have been submitting to the NVC & USCIS, actually, those docs were given to me by a Moroccan lady behind the window 1 hours before being interviewed by the consular officer who was the American girl, she was supposed the one who gives me either the approval or denial, but she just said " we will call you to let you know", i've never been that confused in my life than at the interview room where everyone in the room can hear the what you say.

I realized that being truthful & honest IS NOT DAMN ENOUGH, the applicant needs to make points, explain things, make things clear despite the interruption by the CO, i know your frustration, but your husband/fiance needs to remember if he gave clear explanation about some positive elements that serve your petition, those elements could be considered negative by the CO if not explained properly, it's a matter of knowing what really the consular gives the highest attention to (financial, employment of both petitioner and applicant). a fluent english with nice outfit help as well.

  13. I'm trying to find people who were denied the first time through the US Consulate in Morocco and what did you do after being denied or receiving a 221g and your file was sent back to USCIS? Did you hire a attorney? Where there more fees and if so how much? I want to be proactive and no what to expect, if this occurs to us. If you were denied and was dealing with any North African consulate, I'm actually interested in your story.

    Thank you,

    GGG1975

You're absolutely right, the petitions related to a petitioner who has abundant financial support are approved most of the time regardless the bona fide evidences or applicant doing well or bad at the interview.

I've got a 221(g) 3 days ago at my interview here in Casablanca, i'm through CR-1 (there was no K-1 from the beginning as we married in Casablanca intending to permanently live but things didn't work out). anyway, here's a link from VJ explaining what actions to take regarding the 221(g): http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Returning_Petitions_to_USCIS_via_221g

    Good luck

  14. Hi, I've seen your post in the past and you often give sound advice. I hope your process is going smoothly. Unfortunately in Morocco, most of the time they don't even interview the person. They'll have them sit down and hand them the 221g and say goodbye. As mentioned earlier, they have a high visa denial rate and it mainly runs across class lines.

One lady was denied because her husband couldn't identify the State in which she lived in the US. They actually put that on the denial letter. He could only State she lived in America. So sometimes they are simply looking for a reason to deny you. We have definitely supplied enough evidence. I have a lawyer now who put our packet together and made sure we had all the necessary documentation. However, I don't think he'll be a good choice for the appeal because he's not very supportive or positive about our chances. I want someone to at least believe we have a chance. Because no one can sit down with a person for 10 minutes and determine fraud it's not logical. It's a 50 to 50 shot like gambling. And many people have been approved based on having the money and end up beating their wife or leaving their wife after getting to America (I'm talking about cases from Morocco).

You're absolutely right, the petitions related to a petitioner who has abundant financial support are approved most of the time regardless the bona fide evidences or applicant doing well or bad at the interview.

  15. Im so sorry to hear about that,we went trough the same than u.my fiance had his interview on april 9/2012 and got a 221g without any explanation the co just told him yourcase wlll be send back to uscis.i used my congressman and they monitored us case and they finally sent me a letter after two months, just telling me that my case was asigned to an officer in uscis fo review.but the bad thing was that my case is expired.so there is nothing to do in k1.we are planning to get marry and then fill i130.so try that u congressman get involved and makes an inquiry.because your case for sure is expired.so u need to move to another option to be with your love.and for that u need to finish your k1.have a good luck.and never give up

I'm sorry to hear your fiance got a 221(g), i was given the 221(g) as well (my interview as 3 days ago), the consular officer told me that they're gonna call me to let me know, did the consular officer say the same thing to your fiance? and by the way my 221(g) does not have anything saying that my petition is returning to the USCIS for review, i can send you the copy of my 221(g) and i'd like to compare mine with yours.

    P.S I am through CR-1, visa

  16. Hello everyone,

first of all thanks to allah and secondly to all vjviewers. After 8months in AP today i recieved my immigrant visa.

I pray for all who are in AP to get their visa soon inshallah.i Understand the pain what people are going thru.so have patince. good luck to evryone who ever are AP.

    bye

    Congratulations to both of You.

I have some questions because i got the 221(g) at my interview, it does not say (returned to the USCIS), but i need to know if we have anything in common.

I am through CR-1 visa, there was no K-1 at first because we were married in my home country (not USA), (we actually planned to establish our life here permanently but things turned hard so we decided to move to USA but i need the visa to make that move), our attorney filed the I-129F, then I-130, it was the K-3 at first but halfway he switched it to CR-1 (i don't remember why and how), the process started on February 2011 and my interview was on August 23, 2012.

I hope that you're gonna be able to see the things we have in common, so an idea is clear about the timeframe for me while the AP is taking place.

    thanks and congrats

P.S The consular officer at the day of interview told me that they're going to call me, she did not keep my passport.

  17. congrats. My husband took 4 months. I will advice all petitioners and beneficiaries to consider AP when they buy tickets. It is a hard situation but can happen to any of us

    Congratulations to both of you,

What did you mean by saying " I will advice all petitioners and beneficiaries to consider AP when they buy tickets." ? i've got a 221(g) at my interview, AP, i am through CR-1, we had no K-1, because we were married in my country (not USA), we filed on Feb 2011. thanks for any help

  18. I-130 was filed on Feb 15th 2011, interview was scheduled on Aug 23rd, 2012, it took so much patience, diligence, commitment, etc..., I & my Californian wife planned to start a life here in Morocco, but sadly her father passed away right after she was given a permit of residence in Casablanca, she flew for funeral on Dec 16th 2010 which was the last in-person day, we decided to get me to her due to several good reasons, here we are fighting to accomplish this visa process, only true love can stand bold resisting the unbearable days, i see that online dating and social networks serving on increasing marital engagements dramatically, and also dramatically making the USCIS, NVC, etc...harshening and complicating procedures, i wonder if someday a lie-detector will be used for the interview, with 100 psychiatrists testing a beneficiary :o , who agrees with me?

  19. Upon entering he was interviewed by a Moroccan man. He checked the files that he was suppose to bring. He asked was either you or your wife married before? Who is ______(my fathers name)?. Have you been outside Morocco?

Then he waited for his second interview in a closed room with a nice Asian women. She asked

    1) How did you meet your wife? (followed by numerous interruptions of questions that were related to the main question however the interviewer would include wrong information in these questions and it was up to the beneficiary to correct this mistakes that she was including in the follow up questions).

2)While looking at photo album, asking how many people attended the wedding ceremony.

3)How many times did she visit you.

    4) What you are planning to do when you are in America.

The interview lasted 20 minutes but he was in there for a total of 4 hours. He answered every question with a monologue answer and in addition to answering each question he provided even additional information that was not asked for. It is important not to just answer with a yes or a single sentence speak until they tell you another question. Remember they don’t want to give you a visa so it is your job to fight for it. The interviewer was summarizing information that he said but has giving wrong information, if this happens CORRECT HER IMMEDIATELY.

Notes about the interview. One of the most influential factors that will help in the interview is practice before the interview. Mock interviews and studying the questions that have been previously posted on visa journey are a must for a successful interview. The inteviewee must appear confident and collected. In addition the beneficiary must bring a lot of evidence and put it in front of him /her in every interview ( in our case they only asked for a couple of photos) but just the allusion is impressive to the interviewers. The evidencescan be copies that they already have, or messages/call histories and even just random unrelated papers in a file. Also praying fjar and istikhara will only help and ask for your parents to pray for you.

    Facts about the case:

The beneficiary was living outside Morocco for three years and met the Petitioner when she was living in Morocco.
