The answers you have gotten would be true for an I-864 Affidavit of Support. But for the I-134 London, the beneficiary just needs 'a sponsor' to convince the officer "that he or she is not likely at any time to become a public charge." There is no law/rule that says an I-134 from the unemployed fiance would be of any use if there is somebody else doing the sponsor duties. The beneficiary can even self-sponsor in London with no I-134 at all, by showing they have funds of their own.

what does that have to do with me or my situation? I am not a UK immigrant, I was born there and it clearly states my birthplace as Southampton, England in my passport.

I have visited my fiance several times during the K1 process, and recently spent my full 90 days in the US. I never lie at the border, just be honest...you don't have to say you have an American fiance. Obviously the ties to home are important, but also a big bank balance helps. If you can prove you have enough money to support yourself for the duration of the visit that often really helps. Also remember once you get your NOA1 or 2 you can show that to the border control as proof you are doing immigration the legal way if you decide to tell them about your American fiance. If you can visit each other, do!! Not only will it make this whole process much nicer, its sooo hard being apart but it also acts as further evidence in the future. Plus the more time you spend in the States the better...you are planning on moving here and whether you think it will or not it will be a big change from your home, start adjusting and figuring out things now! Good luck!!

We just wanted to share our experience at the London Embassy this morning. Best of luck to you ALL! Hang in there, your day will come!!
    OUR INTERVIEW WAS TODAY!
We were lucky enough to be there together. Our interview was scheduled for 8:30am, however, we arrived at 7:50 and proceeded through security with no problems. Line wasn't bad at all. Once we were given a ticket number we were told to take a seat and wait for our number to be called.
After waiting about 40 minutes, our "I" number was called. We walked up to window 14 and waited about 3 minutes until an English woman came to help us. She was cold, didn't say much of anything, very sarcastic, and questioned everything my fiance said. We were asked to hand over passport, affidavit of support, visa appointment letter and proof of visa payment (Those last two things: you need from the moment you get in line, until you get a decision. Have them in an easily accessible place). The woman then took my fiance's fingerprints, and then handed back his chest x ray results and was told he needs to have it in his hand luggage for entering US. We were then told to sit back down in the waiting area, complete the courier form and wait for your number to be called again (this time for the actual interview).
About 30 minutes passed and our number was called again, we then went to window 15 and was greeted by a very friendly middle aged American man. Verified my fiance's fingerprints first, then he raised his right hand and swore an oath that everything was true and correct to the best of his knowledge and belief. The man then proceeded to ask questions about us and our relationship. Questions were very simple... such as...
    1. How did you meet?
    2. How have you maintained the relationship (i.e. skype, visits).
    3. Why live in America rather than UK? (This threw us off guard). haha
    4. What do you both do for work?
    5. If any, how much money are you bringing with you to the US?
He then told us we were approved and advised us we would receive the visa in 7-10 days. He explained that your passport (with visa inside) will be delivered to your home. Along with it, will be a sealed envelope with your immigration documents inside. This envelope is to remain sealed and carried in your hand luggage with your chest x ray to give to the customs/immigration at Port of Entry in US.
In total, the process took us 2 1/2 hours. He wished us well and hoped we build a beautiful life together in the United States.

how about in the case of visas - a gay USC is not able to petition for his/her partner to join them. in this case i bet they do not WANT the government to validate how they feel about each other, but yes they do "need" it do, since without it they can never be together. the system is pathetic, and you're disgusting homophobia is too.

absolutely right. my fiancee is a 3rd year med student, working incredibly hard to be qualified as a primary care physician in new orleans. in his spare time he volunteers at free clinics throughout the city. his parents are helping him out financially, and will by my co-sponsors, but we're not comfortable asking for money from for an expensive dress or dinner for 100 people. we care about the long and happy marriage, not the wedding, and i see nothing "shameful" in that.

One of the rights of marriage is to get divorced and have equitable division of property, custody agreements, etc. When straight people have a divorce rate of 50%, I don't think there's much room for criticism that a gay couple is getting divorced. Gay people don't want access to the institution of marriage to be in competition with straight people - they just want the same rights and responsibilities in their spousal relationship and that includes the right to dissolve that marriage.

I just wish the government would remove you the right to be married to a non-US citizen. Just so you would think twice before saying getting married should not be a right for other people.
So much hatered is bad for your karma.

Some people believe that a wedding should be a modest affair - to highlight the commitment that is being made, not the amount of money spent to show-off. Weddings used to be more low-key, but now we have so much pressure with a whole industry telling us to coordinate the stationary with ribbons around the chair, and a whole television show about spending more money than you have for a ballroom gown. Women used to buy a practical wedding dress that they could wear again at other occasions.
My friend's grandmother eloped and got married in a small town somewhere in the southwest while they were driving around. That marriage lasted 50+ years and that couple was the foundation of a whole family for generations. She used to tell my friend about marriage, "It doesn't matter how it starts, it matters what you do with it."
What other people have done might not work for you, but you shouldn't belittle their precious memories and call it shameful or skanky: that attitude is atrocious. If you are going to be in an international marriage, you will have to learn to be more considerate of other people's opinions.

And a marriage isn't defined by the wedding. It's defined by the love of the people involved, not society and certainly not you.

um, your statement might have been somewhat true if it were say, 1958 - but it's 2012 and the OP isn't asking for your opinion about civil ceremonies, they're asking about the marriage requirement of the K1 visa.
OP - my husband and i were married in a quick civil ceremony @ a pub we both like. it cost us $40. our AOS was approved without interview. we provided our marriage certificate and pictures the officiant took of us. the amount of money spent on a wedding or rings, is completely up to the couple involved. my husband and i don't even have rings and we don't want them. there is no law that states the validity of a marriage is attached to the cost of such things.

Well, I think men and women CAN be friends. Most of my friends are men actually.
But when you lie to your spouse about someone and hide to contact them, then it can definitely not be defined as friendship.

No the tail light was not broken, they had just purchased the vehicle from a dealership only two days before they pulled him over.
An update on the case he,was transferred to the county jail, his wife posted bail and he was released today at 5:00 p.m. ICE was there when they posted bail and they handed him over to his attorney with the agreement that his wife secured the attorney's services and all necessary paperwork will be processed through USCIS etc... The attorney will fight to get the only charge he got for SSN fraud dropped because he has had the card all these years and never used it. It was his first offense and has been a law abiding citizen, is married to an American citizen and has a child with special needs.
They dropped the no license charge since he could not renew it as a result of his expired status. There is a light at the end of the tunnel for them.
