  1. Hi guys,

i was wandering. I am currently living in the U.S and nearing the final stages of my Adjustment of Status. I Went for my biometrics 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. when i got home i threw my clothes in the washing machine and it had my passport in my shorts!! i am worried now that this will affect the final stages of my Adjustment of status. My passport is still intact and the I.D page is still readable, but you can tell that it was once water damaged. my K1 visa is looking a little worse for wear. can someone give me some advice on what i should do? I'm worried that if i have to interview for my green card i will need a new passport.

I did not have an interview for my AoS. But I don't think it would be a problem because you already included copies for your passport biographical page and the visa as well. Just bring it in and tell the IO that you accidentally washed your passport.

Just a little note. My cat urinated my passport - don't ask me how he did it-. I sent it to the Indonesia consulate in Houston, Texas, with the smell that OMG, because it was expired. They processed it without a complain and sent it back to me about a week later. :D

  2. Congratulations for all the approvals!

Being busy lately since my husband is retired and we are now residing in Glendale, AZ, from Key West, Florida. I just wanted to share my experience regarding my green card. My husband drove us (with our cats!) from Key West to Glendale. When we reached a gate patrol about 22 miles west of Las Cruces in New Mexico, we stopped by a border patrol at the gate.

The officer to my husband: Are you US citizen, Sir?

    My husband: Yes.

The officer to me: And you, Ma'am?

    My husband: She's from Indonesia.

Me: I did not say anything. I gave him my green card, he checked it then returned it.

The officer: Where you will going to?

    My husband: Arizona.

The officer said something and let us go. I'm happy because I got my green card in time before we moved to another place far distance especially we traveled along the border between US and Mexico. And I did not reapply for EAD and AP because I felt unfair for all this process that took more than a year to get green card in hand.

My husband drove 6 days in row, by the way! :D ...because I can't drive...yet! :P

  3. I think the officer doesn't know his job. If the petition is expired then why the embassy issued a visa valid up to 6 months. Visa is to enter the U.S. Not the petition. That's why NOA-2 hardcopy says " this is not a visa". Oh my, I hope you get his name and reported it. I'm sorry you have to deal to such a situation like this.

  4. It depends where the beneficiary comes from. If the beneficiary comes from high fraud countries then they will digging everything they could to show a real relationship. You need doing some research about that. I have been on VJ for a while and some of the U.S. embassies actually asked beneficiaries showing chats from Facebook.

My husband doesn't have Facebook and only me. But the CO did not ask proof of relationship. Only asked me a few questions and I was approved. Most of times I talked to my husband through video calls on Skype and emails. That's of all form of communications we had.

  5. there was one question they asked and he did not know....I was previosly married, they asked him What was the date of my wedding anniversary from my previous marriage. He said I dont know.

So strange to ask that question.....

Do you think I should wait for the outcome or just marry and file the CR1??

It's not strange to ask the question. Actually it is very common question to ask a beneficiary to see how close you are to each other. In the G-325A form it asked about previous marriages and CO would expect both you share each other information because you both are getting married. That's why some couples here doing exercises Q&A before go to the interview.

Just married and file CR-1 isn't guarantee an approval. You have to make sure that both of you really know each other, outside and inside, if you know what I mean. If you are willing to disclose very sensitive information such as financial information, etc, how come date of marriage he can't remember?

My husband and I were never married before we met. But I knew all dates of his deployments, his apartment number, places of his deployment, etc. He knew my friends names in Indonesia, my cats, my favorite colors, how many sibling I have and long list that I can't mention here.

Is it showing a true love? Not a guarantee but if you are really love someone then you should know better all information about them.

  6. He is from Ghana. The only thing that I can think of that is inconsistent is the site we communicate on. We talked thru Facebook initially, then Viber and now we talk on LIne.

There are a few countries I have seen on VJ have raised as high fraud countries. Most of times COs would make things difficult even though your relationship is real. The sites are not the problem. I met my husband through YouTube and started talking on Skype everyday and emails all the times. It might be something on "the conversations" that raised a red flag.

  7. Thank you GirlfromCelebes ! It was one of my fair. It seems I don't have to be home (but even... I was at home, so no excuse for them !)

That's even 0more odd when you know that USPS send me a mail from USCIS the week before !

I send e-mail to both, USPS and USCIS, to tell them its sucks ! I can only wait and see ^^

You don't have to stay at home to received your GC. It was their incompetent not doing their job properly.

  8. The torture continue ! I thought it was finished after 16 months waiting but...

They send my green card on 8/24 (youhou !) . On 8/28 (not youhou!) , my case updated with :

    my_logo.png

Card Was Determined As Undeliverable By The Post Office

And that's bizarre because the post office delivered me several letters ! And even a letter from USCIS ! I think it start to be a big joke on me!

That's odd because they still put in the mailbox even though they don't meet people in the house. My GC was delivered to the mailbox.

  9. Green Card in Hand (Finally). :)

After waiting for (1 year and 40 days of filing for AOS).

Thanks for everyone who answered my questions and shared their experience along this long journey. Best luck for everyone and I will take a break now from here and see you after 1 year and 9 months to lift the conditional status. Hang on everyone, USCIS now is faster than before and they are coping up with the backlog.

    Good Luck everyone.

    Congrats!
