  1. ok, prove it. give me some evidence to back up what you're projecting.

if he's right, someone will have some actual evidence that this in fact, how 'new shooters' choose guns. and why should i guesstimate the actions of a mass killer based on gun marketing toward 'new shooters'? they are not the same and 'new shooters' aren't the target of restriction, mass murderers are.

Well...how about the fact that 20% of all rifle sales in the US are AR15s, making them the most common rifle sold in the US?

  2. i think the hoopla arises out of this need to have all massacres equal in all matters. "they" are not a cohesive unit that "choose" a specific weapon for "publicity", that's dumb imo because it's the killing that gets the publicity, not the guns. the guns only get traction from folks who know anything about guns, ya'll been going on about the AR15 for friggin 18 pages. it's about the kill count, it's about a pile of bodies instead of just a couple bodies. and what better way to get maximum death than to make sure you rarely have to reload? i'm not basing this question on my knowledge of how many bullets it shoots how quick, i'm just taking what i've heard survivors of orlando say, that they were only able to run when the shooter needed to reload or left the area they were in. imagine if he'd gone into that club with a handgun, do you think he would have gotten the same number of kills?

what does 9/11 have to do with anything?

I was asked this earlier (maybe even in this thread). Yes even with handguns he could have easily gotten the same number. AR15s are popular, thats why they are common for these attacks.

If it were banned, they would just move on to the next gun.

'they' do not choose ar15s for publicity. if you have any sort of supporting evidence to this statement, by all means, let me see it.

    He's right.

Think of it like this. You are a new shooter, whats the first gun you are going to think of? The AR15. Why? Because it gets the most publicity.

  3. The Democratic Party is selling gun control like ####### Cheney. That's a problem.

When it comes to terrorism, this is precisely the logic of belligerent neoconservatism. We can't have freedom, it's too risky. Others went even further. Here's supposed progressive hero Elizabeth Warren:

.@ChrisMurphyCT said it right: The @SenateGOP have decided to sell weapons to ISIS.

Object to this bill on due process grounds, and you're basically in league with ISIS. If Cheney were going to sell gun policy, that's how he would do it.

  4. just confirmed, internets validation. lol "affluent and highly educated"

    Your best fit is...
    Solid Liberal
along with 15% of the public.

Generally affluent and highly educated, most Solid Liberals strongly support the social safety net and take very liberal positions on virtually all issues. Most say they always vote Democratic and are unflagging supporters of Barack Obama. Overall, Solid Liberals are very optimistic about the nation’s future and are the most likely to say that America’s success is linked to its ability to change, rather than its reliance on long-standing principles. On foreign policy, Solid Liberals overwhelmingly believe that good diplomacy – rather than military strength – is the best way to ensure peace. Compare groups on key issues.

I'm two bars to the right.

    Next Generation Left.

Generally young, well-educated and financially comfortable, the Next Generation Left have very liberal attitudes on many issues, including homosexuality, abortion, the environment and foreign policy. While overall supportive of an activist government, most are wary of expanding the social safety net. Most also have relatively positive views of Wall Street’s impact on the economy. While most affiliate with the Democratic Party or lean Democratic, few consider themselves strong Democrats

  5. https://www.yahoo.com/news/thousands-okinawa-demand-u-military-134436187.html

About 65,000 people on Sunday held a protest in Okinawa, Japan, to pressure U.S. military bases to leave the country after a former Marine was arrested in connection with the rape and killing of a local woman.

The protesters wore black to mourn the woman as they demanded Japanese officials to review the U.S.-Japanese security agreement, which allows for the continued presence of U.S. military bases in Japan, the Associated Press reports.

The woman’s body was found last month. A U.S. contractor, who is a former Marine, was arrested last month on suspicion of abandoning her body. However, he has not yet been charged with killing her, according to the AP.

  6. 5.56 and .223 are basically the same round. Main difference is one is a the 5.56 is a Nato standard. Basically means you can shoot a .223 in a 5.56 weapon but not recommended in reverse. Short techno mumbo jumbo version.

It raises a point. Since everyone is claiming that the AR 15 is a military weapon, if he used .223 wylde or .223 Remington they are strictly speaking civilian cartridges.

  7. You mean someone like Omar Mateen would no longer enjoy his constitutional rights? That would be a pity, wouldn't it? It is surely more important for an individual like Mateen to enjoy his constitutional rights than it is for the 49 people he slaughtered as a result of those very rights to enjoy theirs. Brilliant. Believe me.

You really are Trump's spokesman lol.

He is all about taking away the rights of Muslims.

    1. "However this issue we are discussing in this thread is.:" All I am saying is you have a list, when you have a match on a gun purchase have system that lets the feds know that they need to investigate. I am not even pushing to delay the purchase..just be prudent in protecting folks with tools at hand.

Thats actually already in place...no need for a new law.

Lawrence Keane, Senior Vice President, Assistant Secretary & General Counsel of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), says: “He is uninformed. Today when a background check is conducted the name is bounced against the watch list. If there is a match the federal agency (typically FBI) that put the person on the list is contacted. The check is put into delayed status to give them time to find a legal basis to deny, to investigate/arrest or to take whatever law-enforcement action they deem appropriate. That could include calling the dealer and asking them not to transfer [sell] the firearm.”

Hey, bud, don't throw my name around!

I like your name though. :luv:

  8. Allegations in the sense that the government is making allegations? If they have allegations of a crime then they should be bringing an arraignment on formal charges.

What do you do if you don't think the person is safe but you cannot make an allegation? What do you do if you think that name is being used as an alias or fraudulently? You have no constitutional guarantee to board a plane.

Personally I do not think an allegation is synonymous with a formal charge, but as Jacque says, I guess thats me being pedantic.

So what do you do if you think a person is unsafe? You investigate them. You find probable cause.

You are right, a plane trip is not a protected right.

However this issue we are discussing in this thread is.

So, let me phrase it this way. Do you support warrantless searches of people and their property on the terror list? How about indefinite detainment?
