  1. As we've often heard from Mr. LaPierre, "the only thing that stops a bad person with a gun, is a good person with a gun."

I'm still waiting for the 2 of you to come to Chicago and stop some of these bad people. Maybe you can round up some like minded citizens to do the same.

Law abiding citizens can't buy guns in Chicago. The city ran all of shops out of town.

  2. https://www.yahoo.com/news/gun-were-difficult-abortion-130000507.html

What I find a bit funny about this story is that its actually true to a degree that guns are regulated like abortions in a way to strip rights. The video is a bit one sided in that it focuses only on antiabortion states, but in reality antigun states use the exact same tactics as anti-abortion states.

I don't often use the terms liberal and conservative in my posts but I have to here because both ideologies are willing to use the exact same underhanded tactics to limit people's rights.

For instance, while conservative states try to make it hard for an abortion clinic to operate with over regulation, so do liberal states like california towards gun shops. For instance, San Francisco officially ran the last gunshop out of town through regulations. California has a handgun roster that no longer allows new guns on it. Old gun designs must reregister ever 3 years. As of 2016, the number of handguns on the roster has nearly halved in size and at its current rate of decline, within 10 years handgun purchases of new firearms will be completely banned.

  3. The gap between living on base, and then heading out to the local restaurants etc is quite surreal. Have a few drinks, know the military lawyers will protect you, not understand the local language and....could bring out the worst in borderline personalities.

Do they? My understanding is that Japan has one of the highest prosecution success rates in the world.

Mr. Newsom posted a meme by the Coalition for Civil Liberties featuring a woman named Nicki Stallard, asking, “If Gavin Newsom gets this passed, how will transgender women like me be able to protect ourselves?”

The meme is in reference to Ms. Newsom’s “Safety for All” initiative to require background checks for ammunition.

“The NRA group in California is using the Trans community to fight our common sense gun safety initiative,” Mr. Newsom wrote Friday in response to meme. “Using the Trans community to fight their battle of lies is arguably one of the most disgusting things they’ve ever done.”

Basically Gavin just called the Transgender community a pawn of the NRA. I think he really sees them as pawns....his pawns...to use for his own political gain.

  5. This is no cheap PR stunt.

The chairman Hideki Inoue and the president Inoue Sota are involved. Apologising for a price hike after holding on for 25 years!

Kids love buying garigarikun.....so many yummy flavours....this will ruin summer for many!!!

Lol its like a 10 cent hike, I don't think it will ruin summer.

I noticed recently that US and Japan policy makers are likely to bump heads soon though. The yen has been strengthening lately and there will be pressure to intervene soon.

  6. His statement doesn't imply that because it actually says it. The following two sentences below are different. The second statement is a paraphrase of what Charles said. You are reading it as the first.

-Most murder weapons are found in low income houses.

-Murder weapons are found in most low income houses.

If we are getting into fine details - he said "housing" not houses. Housing can be an entire development. Therefore it can still be the first.

  7. if that was the criteria for the sale, i'm sure there are plenty of cheaper firearms for sale in most low income housing.

I read this as "Most black teenagers are killed in areas of low income housing, therefore the guns that killed them are there as well and for sale."

That would be a fact. His statement doesn't imply that gun ownership in low income housing is high as some have asserted, it implies they are available for sale (illegally) and are most likely to take a black teenager's life.

  8. I'm in California. All private sales have to go through a background check. There is only really one exception and that is antique guns.

I bought one firearm from a private party 2 years ago. We had to meet at an FFL where we both filled out forms. I paid him cash and never saw him again. I then waited 10 days and collected the firearm from the FFL.

Also had to pay the FFL a state mandated 35 dollar fee.
