Hi, my wife (US Citizen) and I (UK citizen) are 1 month into our 11 month wait for our I-130 approval. We do not live in the same country, I was wondering if there was anything we could be doing while we wait for I130 approval as the wait is already killing me!

Hello! Just trying to plan ahead - my fiance should be arriving here on a K1 visa in June and we'd like to get on the process of getting his SSN as soon as he arrives, before our marriage. In looking at the instructions/accepted documents, it is my understanding that you need two separate documents to prove age and evidence of identity. However, everything under the "evidence of identity" section specifies that it must be a US license, US state ID card, or US passport, obviously none of which my fiance will be able to get. Under evidence of age, it also specifies a US birth certificate. So my question is, what documents can we bring that would be acceptable? Will his foreign passport and foreign birth certificate in addition to his visa and I-94 suffice, or is there something else we will need? I searched but haven't found a consistent answer. Thanks for the help.

I wanted to make this post as I had tried looking EVERYWHERE online for a definitive answer and never found one. In the hopes this can help someone else in Texas, here is my experience. (I understand that this can differ depending upon which State you reside in so I can only relay my experience in Texas) I applied for a DL after passing my very first road test in Texas in August (2023) and was issued a DL with limited term and its expiration was 8 months later in April. Even though I searched and searched online my understanding was that limited term is assigned to those who are temporarily visiting the State. When I reached out to Texas DPS via email right away I was told it was nothing to do with them and it was in fact to do with DHS. When I reached out to DHS I didn t get a response. Today I went to renew my DL and asked about why I got the limited term on my DL and was told that was what was given to them when they ran my GC a couple of times in the SAVE system. Thankfully today I have an 8 year expiration DL coming in the post for me soon.

Hi all! I filed the forms I-130/A for my husband last week and have his I-485 packet ready to go. The only thing holding me up is the part where it asks for an online account number on his forms. Is that the same OAN that I was given when I submitted the I-130? Or will he have his own OAN? I signed him up for an account several days ago, but he doesn't have a number yet. He doesn't have a profile section yet. Thinking back, I didn't have a profile section or number either until AFTER I submitted and paid for the I-130. Any advice here? Thanks, Jade

My fiance was born in Spain to a British father and a Czech mother, and has a certificate from Spain. But a divorce led to her mother moving her to Czech, where she has lived nearly all of her life. Her mother evidently obtained a birth certificate for her in Czech at some point (Czech law requires notification within 3 days of birth but am unsure if this has always been the case or what special exceptions may have existed at the time). The Spain birth certificate lists both parents and uses her father's surname. The Czech birth certificate lists only her mother and uses her mother's divorced name. Later in life, her mother remarried, resulting in a surname name change in Czech. She has since (as an adult) moved to the UK to live with her father and obtained British citizenship and has been employed and taxed there for going on 2 years now. Her Czech and UK passports reflect the surname of her Czech mother's second marriage. My question ultimately is which birth certificate should be used for the K1 requirements? The Czech certificate is legally valid, and her british citizenship speaks to her being the legitimate child of her father, so would USCIS care about the Czech cert not showing the father's name?
