Are CR1/IR1 visas still being approved at this time?

I feel like there is a lot of fear mongering on the internet right now due to Trump's changes. I simply want to know if the CR1 visas are still being approved at this moment in time? Or if anything has ground to a halt? We are hoping to submit our CR1 in February 2026.

He is approved! All he has to do now is wait to get his passport back!

For the update: I originally came on here asking for advice for our financial sponsorship. We were DQ'd at NVC but there was a note with the following:

The income reported as stated on form I-864, I-864A is insufficient to overcome the public charge grounds of inadmissibility for visa issuance. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos and https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. A consular officer will decide if you meet these requirements at the time of the interview. Note: You, as the sponsor, and any other sponsors household members and joint sponsors, must provide updated or additional evidence for the applicant to present at the time of their interview such as: * Other income * Assets * Proof of current employment Note: You submitted documentation to the National Visa Center through the Consular Electronic Application Center CEAC. You can continue to upload documents to CEAC up until the date of your visa interview.

Most advice was that I needed another sponsor. Thing is, it was my mum sponsoring and she is $7000 over the required amount with assets.

But PUSHBRK flat out said, My advice is to simply ignore everything in the message, except that part that says the Consular Officer will decide. Just expect them to do their job and get on with life.

I have a lot of respect for PUSHBRK because I have been on these boards for a good while now and can see that he has a lot of knowledge. For that reason, I felt safe in trusting his advice. We did have a back up sponsor if needed but today, my husband was approved based on my mum's I-864 alone.

PUSHBRK, if you are reading this, thank you so much! The success of our journey has a lot to do with your advice to us throughout the process. So thankful.

CrazyCat, you are another that has offered us great advice and support, thank you too. We are so happy this part of our journey is nearly over. 600 days!

Adjustment of status from J1 visa

Hello everyone,

My wife (US citizen) and I (J1 visa without 2 year requirement) have moved from the UK in April of this year. We initially moved to the US because of job opportunities which was meant to be for 2 years and then go back to Europe after that. Now we are thinking of staying in the US.

From our understanding, we would be eligible for adjustment of status. I wanted to ask when to apply for AOS, and how to justify the AOS while on a J1 visa.

We are wondering if we should get a lawyer to help with this. We previously did a spousal visa for my wife in the UK without any issues. That involved showing evidence of relationship (5 years of joint lease and joint bank accounts in the UK, pictures together, paying council tax together). Our only concern is that we do not have much history in the US. We have a joint bank account, we have a joint lease, and we are the beneficiaries of our life insurance policies. Would the evidence from the UK still count, or is it US specific only.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

DQ but recieved a FE notice

Looking for a bit of advice, have recieved my DQ notice but an additional FE notice which from searching this site is pretty standard.

'The income reported as stated on form I-864, I-864A is insufficient to overcome the public charge grounds of inadmissibility for visa issuance. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted.

A consular officer will decide if you meet these requirements at the time of the interview. Note: You, as the sponsor, and any other sponsors household members and joint sponsors, must provide updated or additional evidence for the applicant to present at the time of their interview such as:

* Other income * Assets * Proof of current employment Note: You submitted documentation to the National Visa Center through the Consular Electronic Application Center CEAC. You can continue to upload documents to CEAC up until the date of your visa interview.'

So advice I need is on the situation: my partners previous 3 tax returns fell just short (around 6k over the course of 3 years in total) but this year due to a promotion in January she has an expected income of $30k (she is hourly so month to month can vary). We previously submitted her paystubs, a letter from her employer confirming the new role and another letter confirming an expected approx gross salary by the end of the year.

As per the notice we have recieved we are going to add in further payslips, will this be enough to prove current income to the CO officer? Would there be anything else recommended?

We are not in a situation to get a joint sponsor, however we are in a situation where she has over 30k in cash, and I have over 200k liquid assets in the UK. Do we complicate things by inserting these at this point as I know all advice always says rely on income first? Or do we upload evidence of this now as a back up? Bring it with me to the interview instead? I just don't want to delay the situation any further and its hard to know what the right avenue is.
