Hello all, As of two weeks ago, I m finally a US citizen. I know many people wait longer, but as you all know, the process of immigration and dealing with USCIS is arduous even in the best of circumstances! I ve already registered to vote and applied for my passport so the next thing to cast my mind over is potentially sponsoring my mum. There s no rush to sponsor her because she s not in a position right now to move to the US, nor is she sure she wants to given cost of medical, etc. (Although being extra cautious is pretty typical of her and I don t think that s a direct reflection of her genuine interest.) Plus, she has a fairly good set up right now she lives part of the year in the U.K. and part of the year in Dubai so throwing the US in, although an option longterm, might not be in her immediate plans. That being said, it wouldn t hurt to start the process in case things are different in a few years given how long USCIS takes to process anything. Apart from the cost, what would the drawbacks be to starting the application now? I m mainly concerned that it might affect her ESTA and I m also interested in learning if the process of interviewing, etc. can be postponed if in a year s/two years time she s still not ready. And, lastly, I just wanted to thank everyone for the help they ve given over the last few years. I m not a big poster, but a regular reader and it s astounding how much knowledge you all have on this process. I m glad that we opted to not pay a lawyer throughout our journey the information here is invaluable!

Hi there! I am in this weird waiting stage where we have all of our documents sorted for the medical and interview but are now just waiting for the days to arrive. I am the USC. So I am looking at things for AOS and helping him adjust to his life here. Looking for any recommendations that anyone might have in regards to cell phones and retaining old cell numbers. My fiance is UK, and he mostly uses Whats App to communicate with friends/family and not text messages. I'm wondering if there is a way to help him keep his old UK number while not breaking the bank on cell phone plans. I have done some research on VOIPs and dual SIMs, but wasn't sure if anyone here had any advice or guidance on how they handled this. Thanks

Hi all, Has anybody had their passport and documents delivered to a third party and signed by them at all? I have my visa interview next week and I am just on the visa interview appointment site looking at arranging delivery of these if approved to my grandma's address as I will be at work and unable to sign for delivery. I have attached a screenshot of the Home delivery instructions. Looking at this it is ok for my grandma to sign for them on the initial delivery but she would need to have proof of items listed in section 5 of the attached. I am a bit confused as to why this isn't required on the initial delivery but then required on the redelivery? Then I would put my grandmas name in the Care Of field on the 2nd attached screenshot. Just want to make sure I have understood this correctly so I can enter the delivery details correctly on the site. Hope you can help!

Hello, My husband came over on a K1 visa, we were married, then he did his adjustment of status and now he has his green card. We are ready to do the form N-400 online but we got to the section asking about signing up for Selective Services. We tried verifying his SSN online with the Selective Services website but it cannot find him registered. I honestly cannot remember if we did or didn't sign up, we certainly weren't trying to NOT sign up but so far on the immigration journey we never saw anything prompting us directly or requiring him to sign up. I thought I remembered him signing something about the draft when he got his drivers license at the DMV? But honestly it is all a blur now. And now we are panicked because on the SS website it says it is a felony if you haven't signed up before 26. He is 27 and has been here since he was 21. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you!

My husband is from the UK and came here on a K1 almost 11 years ago and we've been blessed with two amazing kiddos. Fast forward we are finally in a good place financially so citizenship is definitely in the stars soon. I did have a random question. With our children technically being eligible for dual citizenship, would they still be eligible after he becames a US citizen.. Is there a future of dual for our kiddos or is that the end of it? Either way I'm not fussed, generally curious. Thanks in advance!
