Paying foreign tax on US income - UK resident

Hello! I was wondering if anyone from the UK could help me as I am struggling a little to understand the UK Gov website/find anything to help.

I moved to the USA in June of this year on a K1 visa, and am now married to my husband. I am currently awaiting my AOS/Green Card and was wondering, once I get a job and start to earn an income, do I need to continue to pay UK tax on my foreign income even if I am not moving back to the UK/moving any money to the UK? Has anyone had any experience with this and is able to let me know?

Thank you so much!

Anyone able to advise on timeframes between NOA2 and Interview? (London, UK)

Hi all,

Title is my question - is anyone able to advise on approx. timeframes between NOA2 and interview, specific to London, UK? If you went through this recently, what was your experience?

Also, can anyone share their recent experience of booking an interview - were available dates quite close, or far off in advance?

Our NOA2 is dated 2nd Aug with an expiry of 30th Nov. I am just trying to gauge how long I may have before I need to start making travel plans to London.

If I can't book a date before 30th Nov, and book one after, will the embassy automatically extend our expiry date or do I have to submit a request?

We have plans for me to go over in mid-Oct and return early-Nov, so I am hoping for a date in late-Nov, but also feeling a little anxious about how tight our timings might be after I return from the US, so Dec might work better (if possible).

Thank you!

Good afternoon all,

Does any know how long it takes for the Green card to arrive after we enter the US on a CR1 visa? The CR1 visa stamp on the passport is valid for 1 year.

Thank you everyone.

Oath ceremony at Chatsworth CA tomorrow!

Soooo, it's likely that this will be my last post in here, as tomorrow is the last stage of my USCIS journey - my citizenship oath!

I passed the test in June, but as I was flying back to the UK a week later, I declined to do the oath the same day. So, tomorrow it is!

As this is probably my last post, it feels appropriate to ask a typically (well, for me) goofy question .

The oath ceremony at Chatsworth is done outside the front of the building (I believe), which has public access. My husband will be coming to watch...do you think it'll be ok if he has our dogs with him?

The alternative will be to leave them in the car (with the AC on, of course) - however, as it's a public street, I thought it might ok if they're there...plus I have the cutest little US flag rosettes for them to wear .

Thoughts?

**Edited to add** The reason we can't leave them at home is because one of them was only adopted relatively recently, so can't be left home alone yet. Just in case anyone asks!

Recent Medical Exam

Last Thursday, the 8th, I attended my Visa Medical Exam in London. Everything went smoothly, except that I was informed I needed to get another COVID booster since it had been over 12 months since my last one. I was told I had to get the booster elsewhere.

After the exam, I went across the city to a private clinic to receive the booster.

I have since emailed proof of this to Visa Medicals, and on Friday, they replied: "We have printed off the information to be checked by the nurse. If anything further is needed, or if the nurse has any queries, she will contact you directly. If everything is now up to date, you should receive proof of this within the next couple of working days."

They also mentioned in a separate email that the nurse will email me my vaccination worksheet once it s complete.

My question is, will this be enough time before my k-1 interview on the 22nd? There are two weeks between the two dates, so I m just hoping everything will be done in time. Some people told me everything should be done in time since it s been 3 working days already since I sent them the proof of vaccination.
