US Immigration from United Kingdom

Hi Everyone

I would be grateful if someone could help with my situation as I am struggling to get any reliable information online.

I will be travelling to San Francisco from London on 31st of August 2020 on an IR-1 visa. I will be living with my wife who started a new job a few months back. My wife has confirmed that both me and her will be eligible to be covered by her employment medical plan beginning in October.

This leaves me 1 month where I will need medical insurance. From my research I understand that I cannot be covered by travel insurance as I will be a LPR. So I looked into plans for new immigrants, none of which cover my situation as they seem to all be for green card holders who are travelling abroad, or don t cover LPRs in general (the wording is very misleading and I don t want to take the risk).

I then decided to look for short term medical cover in California and found that it was outlawed in 2018. Another problem given the circumstances is that most insurance plans won t cover Covid-19 which is obviously an important factor.

Has anyone here experienced a similar issue?

I would grateful for any advice in this area because it is proving to be very stressful.

I see that USCIS has just announced that their proposed furloughs have just been cancelled until at least the end of 2020, which is great news.

My question is, since USCIS are increasing their fees from October 2, 2020 - will this be once an application is sent by a lawyer or received by USCIS?

If an application is sent on September 14 for example, will this require the old or new fees?

I've got my Green Card interview in a couple of weeks time and my wife recently dyed her hair, and she brought up the fact afterward if the Immigration Officer might think that it would be unprofessional to have. I was thinking about it and I think its just got on my nerves however we do look young and I do not want to give off the stereotype of being unprepared or seeming naive.

I m at the stage of writing a letter of domicile as a supporting document to my I-864. The sample letter I found online is very basic. Should I keep it plain and simple or add more detail as to our personal reasons for moving back to the US after I ve been living in the UK for 1.5 years?
Just to give some background, to maintain domicile I have kept a US mailing address, I have US bank accounts, I have a recent absentee voter registration, I filed 2019 taxes, and my former US employer has kept me on as an independent contractor and so I have made some supplemental income in the last year (albeit not nearly enough to sponsor my husband solely). My parents will be financially co-sponsoring my husband.

Hi, I had my interview on 24th august and I was refused because they had not received my medical yet. I had my medical on August 12th. They told me that I would be approved once they recieve my medical given that it Is all clear. Has anyone else been in that position? How long does it take for them to process my visa?
