Form I-864 - Using Property in UK as asset query as the forein spouse

Hello :)

My wife is a US citizen and lives in the US, and I live in the UK so we are applying through consulate process. We have recently filed the I-130 but I have a question about the I-864

From what I understand, I, as the spouse can use my assets but not income on the form, is this correct? And assets have to be easy to liquidate within a year?

My wife's income conservatively is around $20,000, $26,000, $20,000 for the last three tax years which would leave us slightly under the required amount

I have a property in the UK that I do not intend to sell yet valued at 280,000- 300,000 with no mortgage, I own it outright.

Would I be able to use this to make up the shortfall or do they prefer cash in the bank as proof? If I can use it to make up the shortfall, what would I need to prove the valuation of it? Would I need to include the deeds and show there is no mortgage? I really just want to make sure I put whatever the most watertight thing is.

If cash in savings is better - then how much would they need to see from me to make sure there are no issues?

Thank you!

Application still ‘refused’ on website despite having sent the correct documents

Hello there,

so we had our embassy interview on March 13th and the officer said she has no concern regarding the relationship, but I needed to provide a divorce certificate and a death certificate on behalf of my fianc e. They also asked for the original, and not a certified copy, of those documents. So we were approved pending the receiving of the docs, but on paper it says refused.

so I diligently got all those documents, took me over two months, and the courier finally delivered them in a week, and not in a day, and I know they were at the embassy on Wednesday.

The divorce decree is actually a certified copy, made by the court as they do not rss originals. The rest is original.

anyway this morning I check my status online, which was previously as send documents and refused .

now I saw that it was updated yesterday, still refused, and it indicates the documents have been received.

i am freaking out. Surely after receiving the documents they should just get on and approve this?

and I cannot contact anyone to ask questions, all I get is generic copy and paste type replies after a week, totally useless.

how and when will I know what s going on?

thanks!

I am a green card holder (10 year green card) and have lived in Pennsylvania for 6 years. I booked a trip home to the UK in June and I want to confirm that all I'll need document-wise is my British passport and green card?

It's been about 5 years since I was home and I want to make sure I'm not forgetting/missing something.

Thanks!

K1 Visa Medical - Doctor Note

Hi, so I've seen around the forums that if you're going to your medical and you have self harm scars, you need a note from your doctor in advance stating that they feel you're not a threat to yourself or others. However, my doctor insists that legally she can't write this because she's not an expert in mental health, is this right? I've seen lots of other accounts of people getting this easily from their GP (UK based). Any advice on what I can give to her to reassure that it would be okay?

CR1/IR1 - After the interview, CEAC updates?

Hi all, I had my CR1 interview today in London & I was verbally informed that we were approved at 09.00 this morning. I've already posted up my review of the consulate too. I was wondering if some people could share their experiences about what happens next - I'm particularly curious about:

- CEAC updates - mine still says READY, and I believe I shouldn't expect that to change until my visa/passport is ready

- Will it go straight from READY to something else? I saw on an EB2 thread that theirs changed to 'administrative processing'

- When did it change for you?

- How long did it take from approval to passport in hand for you?

I'm going to pick up my passport from the DX office in London, & I'm just a bit impatient so that's why I'm asking about what other's steps are like! I know that they say up to two weeks, but it seems that's not always the case. There's not a lot of data in people's VJ timelines about this final step either.

Thanks!
