Jenny, my wife, is evacuating Ukraine with a friend (Tanya and daughter) who was recently robbed and does not have a passport.

Her understanding is that Tanya can evacuate with her only by requesting refugee status. She also believes that if she enters as a tourist, they will be separated.

Will Jenny claiming refugee status in Europe effect our I-130 (currently under review at NVC)?

We filed a k-1 application 1 month ago. She is from Ukraine and is now in Poland. She has not and does not want to apply for refugee status in the EU because if things change and she returns to Ukraine she will lose her refugee status. Since refugee is an immigrant process can she apply for refugee status in the US. Come here and at some point we get married.. At that time she loses her refugee status. Will we have to make any visa filings at that time or is it just like marrying anyone in the US. With refugee status does she get a green card and then go down that path to US citizenship? appreciate the advice.

Is there any insight into the time between submitting the case at NVC and the scheduled interview date in Frankfurt for an IR-1?

A petition I filed for my mom got approved, I think. The status was updated to approved on USCIS website. But I am still waiting for the confirmation in the mail.

The issue is that my mom is physically in Ukraine, which now doesn t have a consular office. What should my next step be? I guess it will take time to file NVC forms and pay the fees. But what about the interview and police record/medical appointment ? Our country is bombed so there is no way my mom can do it safely. I hope and pray for peace. I plan to call USCIS since this is a special circumstance but I thought that someone here might have had a similar experience?

• Flexibility for those who received a Request for Evidence or a Notice of Intent to Deny but were unable to submit evidence or otherwise respond in a timely manner;
• Flexibility if you were unable to appear for a scheduled interview with USCIS;
• Expedited replacement of lost or damaged immigration or travel documents issued by USCIS, such as a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card), Employment Authorization Document, or Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record; and
• Rescheduling a biometric services appointment.
