My wife has recently passed her citizenship test. When she asked for a name change, the officer told her they will not be able to do it at this time due to COVID, and asked my wife to do it at the court instead.

We are in Los Angeles area, California, and I checked to file a name change in the court, is around USD$400-$500 here and a lot of troubles. Anyone experienced this can share some inputs please?

Thanks in advance.

AOS Question - Have a Joint Sponsor, still include Petitioner's Assets?

Apologies if this has been discussed to no end. I couldn't narrow down on the keywords to search for.

A brief intro: I'm part of the January 2022 cohort and currently at the NVC stage waiting for fees to process, coming across an issue that I'm seeking advice on.

My wife and I live abroad and since my foreign income does not qualify for the I-864, should I include my assets while filling in the form and attaching evidence or simply rely on my Joint Sponsor who is well-qualified?

  • I would need to transfer my USD to a US bank account
  • The USD cash portion would barely be enough to qualify (just around 60K, I believe)
  • But I also have some US-based investments and Roth (totaling to around 30K, at present moment)

Obviously the goal would be to avoid an RFE, but I know I'm blessed to be at the NVC stage where processing time is about a month.

Any advice or suggestions are welcome!

Submitted new application almost 2 weeks ago. Still shows "Not Available". I know they say it could be 2 weeks from application date to even show up in the system, but I am just curious if anyone has recent experience.

BTW, we did the expedited route.

Hi everyone,

I passed my n400 interview today. However the officer checked the decision cannot be made yet because of my pending I-751. They don t have my I-751. My case was transferred to NBC in 2021. In the beginning he went over a list of things I submitted to my I-751. My husband was waiting outside but wasn t needed for the interview.
At the end, the officer told me they (whoever has my case) have to approve my I-751 before they can schedule me an oath ceremony. He doesn t know how long it s going to take. Does anyone have similar experience to share?

I filed my I-751 back in July, 2021.
I filed my n400 September, 2022. (3 year rule)
