Letter from employer (cr1) HELP (merged)

I am a US citizen living and working in Taiwan with my wife and am very concerned about the letter from my employer.

In Visajourney's NVC process guide, it states the following regarding letters from employers (READ RED).

Note: for petitioners living and working abroad, put $0 for the question on current income (unless your income will continue, then put the amount). In either case, include an employment letter with all the details and if your job will NOT continue, make sure it is stated as such in the letter. It'd also be a good idea to mention this in the cover letter.

Generally, the following is needed:

With no joint sponsors:

-Bar-coded cover sheet from payment portal

-Cover letter (optional)

  • You can find a sample cover letter I wrote here [17]

-Original completed, signed, and dated I-864 form by petitioner

-Tax information^^ of petitioner (either just the last year OR the last 3 years)

-Employment letter of petitioner (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income)

-Pay stub(s) of petitioner (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income)

My question

Is the letter generally asked for?

If so, what happens if you can not provide the letter?

I don't want to ask my employer for such a letter as it would tip them off that I will be quitting my job next year (and therefor they would not renew my contract coming up in a few months). In addition, I'm not even sure they could provide a letter. My boss doesn't speak (or write) very good English at all.

I will have 3 years of tax info as needed. If this letter is needed as well, I might have to find another job!

VERY concerned about this. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Does anyone know a phone number to talk to someone as NVC?

Visajourney has (603) 334-0700 posted in their NVC link. Yet when I call it said that NVC has suspended this phoneline in order to focus in processing accounts. Anyone know an alternative number to contact them?

I did my interview in Montreal, Canada in March 2023. The questions I got during the interview:

  1. Who petitioned for you?
  2. Where was I born?
  3. Where does your fiance live and what does he do for work?
  4. What do I do?
  5. How and when did you meet?
  6. What countries have you been to in the past 5 years?

I realized I answered the 2 things wrong only until after I left the Embassy. They were:

  • At the first window where they officer collected fingerprints and papers, I gave my finance's phone number wrong. 3 out of 10 digits were wrong, but the other 7 digits were right.
  • At the second window where the interview happened, I said the year we met wrong. We met in 2017, but I said 2018.

During the interview, the officer didn't grill me on any questions or circle back to ask me a question previously asked. It went bang bang bang, and she said "you're missing the right police record. The correct one should have XYZ. Follow this instruction to send in your correct police record and passport, we will process when we receive them."

My interview lasted less than 10 mins. The entire embassy visit lasted about 1 hour from in to out. Most of the time was spent waiting.

My DS-160 status online says 'Denied' in the afternoon.

Has anyone got too nervous and answered questions wrong? what's your experience?

1. Does it mean that they aren't using the Joint Sponsor? (Screenshot )

2. Step 10 (here) states that applicants "do not need to bring [their] Affidavit of Support or financial evidence [they] submitted to NVC."
Is this accurate? I've seen multiple accounts here mentioning that they bring thei sponsor's updated I-864 + Financial Evidence to the interview.
