Hi everyone, I have seen multiple threads regarding the I-944 and whether or not the Evaluation of equivalency is needed. Because this is a new form and most the posts were from months ago, I am wondering if anyone has some updated info.

I think I read that one person on here got approved without doing it but curious what others have to say.

We are trying to file asap and would have to push back the mail date if we have to wait for this.

Thanks!

Remove the wait and get married online and change your Process.

Kabayan party-list Rep. Ron Salo files bill seeking to allow virtual wedding using video, audio and data transmission devices.

Republic of the Philippines HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Quezon City, Metro Manila EIGHTEENTH CONGRESS First Regular Session House Bill No. 7042

This will allow you to get married online, and start the process of either a CR1 or a 13A to return, since the Philippines has cancelled their SRRV.

Key Take aways:
(1) legal capacity of the contracting parties who must be male and female; and
(2) consent freely given in the presence of the solemnizing officer
(3) Physically being on camera
(4) WHEN THE MARRIAGE WAS PERFORMED VIRTUALLY, THE CERTIFICATE OF MARRIAGE MUST BE NOTARIZED PRIOR TO ITS REGISTRATION WITH THE LOCAL CIVIL REGISTRAR TO ENSURE ITS AUTHENTICITY AND DUE EXECUTION, AND TO PROPERLY ASCERTAIN THE IDENTITY OF THE CONTRACTING PARTIES.
(5) Everything else required to get married in the philippines.

DECEMBER 2020 I-129F K-1 FILERS

For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Good luck because this is a lengthy process currently running 5-6 months from filing date for your NOA2 approval.

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/K1_Process_V11.pdf

Also, since your application will go through several background checks this is a primer on what goes on with the background process.

I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC (California Service Center) must work through! When someone gets to your file, you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fianc about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go to a sporting event, and your time will come! Good luck

The explanation why is it taking so long.

K1 VISA - CO-SPONSOR (UNCLE)

Hi everyone! Been a lurker for some time here and thought I'd ask for your help with this. We're currently in the processing of assembling our K1 packet and plan to file this December; I understand that we won't need the form I-134 until the interview but we're simply planning ahead given our situation.

We wanted to file early given the backlogs and we're actually banking on those right now as my boyfriend will only start working this December; hopefully, this will give us enough time to prepare for our finances. His monthly salary is enough for 125% of the HHS guidelines (if projected annually) but he won't be able to provide much proof of it aside from his recent pay stubs as he will only start next month, his current savings by that time, and maybe a letter from his employer, and on top of that, this situation may change as he's waiting on an application that will most likely pay better by March of next year.

My question is - I've seen how some people used co-sponsors for Manila, some rejected (for reasons such as the sponsor was not an immediate relative, or that the k-1 is a non-immigrant application), and some accepted. Given that we have limited proof for the affidavit of support, we plan to ask my uncle, as in my mom's brother, who's currently a high ranking official in the US Navy, just in case, as a safeguard. There is no question if he will be able to meet the requirement, but will he qualify as immediate? And we will not be staying in the same household as they are situated in the west coast and we might have to stay somewhere east.

Am I overthinking this? I tend to do so with any kind of application. Any kind of advice is welcome!

Thank you and please stay safe.
