IR 5 Visa - Timing

Working on the IR 5 visa for a parent from the Philippines. All of our documents were accepted by NVC in July, 2021. Visa center out of Nebraska. Is there anything else I can be doing? She will be spending time with her grand-daughter (our daughter) while we work and we need to figure out childcare until then. Is there any kind of letter I can submit to push it along or is the right timing? Thank you in advance.

Hi, i just received our rejection notice for my green card application. I applied for a concurrent filing i-130 and i-485 (from tourist visa). It was rejected due to missing one page. Which is i completely sure i submitted all pages and the missing one page is the page 16 of i-485 where i signed. All documents submitted were returned with their initials and barcode st the bottom of each documents. My question is do i need to print all forms and supporting documents? Or only the i-485 which is they told me there is missing page. And when i checked the updated forms online the i-765 and i-131 has oct 31, 2022 edition. My i-765 form is july 2022 edition but valid til

jan 2023. So im confused if i need to reprint it again with the new edition.

i hope someone can help me with my inquiries

thank you

Hi, Visa Journey

I'm happy to be here in this forum and have been reading a lot of helpful contents to guide me in my application of I-130 for my spouse and child. I am a US Citizen based in the Philippines and planning to leave by February 2023 to file the petition. Basically I will be starting from scratch, that includes establishing domicile, applying for a job and whatnot. With this being said, I would like to know if it will be ideal to submit the application form with the employment being blank since by the time of the filing, have just flew in from the Philippines, provided I will submit all the supporting documents of our income, assets, business documents in the Philippines and as well as the Affidavit of Support from my relatives in California.

AOS Finally approved! What next?

This was the recent update I got on the website. Oddly enough the AOS is approved but no updates have been made on either the EAD or AP applications. Does this mean I just won't get those anymore and might be receiving the green card in the mail soon? Will I still have to do an interview? I'm so confused because it just seems very abrupt. The off "cancellation of additional evidence" too is pretty weird as I never received an RFE. I have seen many post on other sites though about interviews being waived. No matter what it is though I'm just glad there's finally movement happening on my petition. Hope the same for all of you!

W-2/Tax Returns Question

Hi all,

Question on I-864/proof of income:

I retired from my previous 17+ year career in March 2019 to finish graduate school. I had one year of unpaid clinicals to complete in order to finish my master's degree and obtain my license as a psychotherapist.

Inasmuch, in tax year 2020, my taxable income was just over $4,000. (I had money in savings and checking from my onetime lump sum retirement payment.) My taxable in income in 2021 was consistent with my work as a psychotherapist (and of course well above qualifying for sponsorship), and my taxable income for 2022 will be more than 2021.

I have my original W-2s from 2021 and will have them for 2022. I do not have originals for 2020; though, I did file a tax return that year for the little bit of taxable income I did have.

Assuming we reach the stage of May's interview by December or January of 2023/2024, here are my questions:

1) Should I write an affidavit and swear it out before a notary explaining my subthreshold income in 2020?

2) Should I get an unopened original transcript from the university and a copy of my degree, get the degree apostilled, and send it with my other documents for her interview in order to establish a timeline with additional proof?

3) Should I just get the original W-2 and 1099 from 2020 to be prepared and potentially avoid an RFE, or will the IRS return transcript w/ the W-2 sent to the IRS likely be acceptable? I believe I can get the W-2. I don't know if I can get the 1099 (the 1099 was only a few hundred dollars, but I assume I should include it).

I'm assuming my income from 2020 will not necessarily be so scrutinized with some evidence of my career change and proof of employment from my current employer, but I don't want to just coast and assume and hit snags down the road.

Probably, we'll hit this phase in early 2024, and my previous 3 years' worth of tax returns will eliminate 2020, but I like to understand things and be prepared so we have what we need if we need it.

Thanks, all.

Jason and May
