US Immigration from New Zealand

Hey everyone!

I was wondering what the process is for the interview scheduling once your petition gets to the embassy in your country. I'm in New Zealand if anyone else from here can let me know their experience.

Does the embassy give you an interview date? Or are you able to schedule it? And if you are able to schedule it, how much leeway do you have? I'm asking cos I don't know if I'll be able to take a day/half day off work (my work doesn't know I'm in the process of applying for this visa since I wouldn't have got the job if they knew I planned to leave in 10 ish months), so I just wanted to know how possible it'd be to get my interview on a weekend day?

We're a bit unclear about how to list our joint sponsor's income on the I-134. Our sponsor is married and his tax transcripts list the combined income of himself and his wife, even though only he has signed the I-134. Do we need to list ONLY what he made (i.e. his W-2), or can we use the amount of his total household income (as listed on the tax transcripts we're using for evidence)? We don't want to list the incorrect income amount.

Hey can anyone advise me the cost of recent medicals in nz with the Auckland doctors versus Wellington doctors. I ve been quoted a horrendous price in Wellington and I m sure I m being ripped off. Anyone done a medical in the last few weeks??

Anyone here with an I-130 that's been approved from the Texas Service Center recently?? If so, when did you submit?

Just out here trying to gauge timelines again. VJ estimates say I'm overdue but according to USCIS processing time I still am not past the date to submit an inquiry.

Does anyone know of a way to confirm where your case is being processed that doesn't involve calling USCIS & being on hold for hours?

Hi, I'm hoping for some input.

I am a US citizen, and my wife is currently an LPR. My wife's mom is currently here with us in the US on a B1/B2 visitor visa.

She entered the US on July 1st 2021, and her visa expires I believe December 31st 2021. We put in an extension request on Oct 4th 2021, and she had her biometrics appointment on November 3rd 2021.

We are trying to extend her visa because she is from New Zealand, and we're worried she won't be able to get back into her country in time. This is because you can't just book a flight and return to NZ. You have to first have a spot secured in a government managed isolation hotel, but in order to secure a spot you are put through a lottery system. This means that there is literally no way of knowing if she can get back to her home country in time, if at all.

So far from what I can tell, extension requests are useless. They either are denied or they take way too long to come through. So, my question is, do we abandon that plan entirely and try and instead plan to get her to another country entirely when her US visa expires? Are there any other options at our disposal that we can try? Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

This whole process is so frustrating, because there's no way of making anyone care that there are things out of our control. My mother-in-law can't just hop between countries while she hopes to be let back into her own country!
