B2 Extension - Hope or No Hope?

Hi, I'm hoping for some input.

I am a US citizen, and my wife is currently an LPR. My wife's mom is currently here with us in the US on a B1/B2 visitor visa.

She entered the US on July 1st 2021, and her visa expires I believe December 31st 2021. We put in an extension request on Oct 4th 2021, and she had her biometrics appointment on November 3rd 2021.

We are trying to extend her visa because she is from New Zealand, and we're worried she won't be able to get back into her country in time. This is because you can't just book a flight and return to NZ. You have to first have a spot secured in a government managed isolation hotel, but in order to secure a spot you are put through a lottery system. This means that there is literally no way of knowing if she can get back to her home country in time, if at all.

So far from what I can tell, extension requests are useless. They either are denied or they take way too long to come through. So, my question is, do we abandon that plan entirely and try and instead plan to get her to another country entirely when her US visa expires? Are there any other options at our disposal that we can try? Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

This whole process is so frustrating, because there's no way of making anyone care that there are things out of our control. My mother-in-law can't just hop between countries while she hopes to be let back into her own country!

Hi guys. Getting paperwork for I751 lifting conditions. Our tax returns are up to 80 pages each. Does anyone know if the irs transcripts are shorter to send? Do they need the full 80? Going to big envelope if so. Just checking what others did.

Another Police Certificate Question

My husband lived in Germany for 2 years prior to us meeting - we currently have a copy of his police certificate from there and translation as we needed to obtain it for my partnership visa here in New Zealand. The police certificate we have for him from Germany is over two years old but he has not been back there since. So my question is, is this okay to use? From the wording on the travel.state.gov website it seems like it's fine as long as he hasn't been back there since the police certificate was issued.. but just wanting confirmation / second thoughts. Especially since it'll be one we submit ourselves opposed to the police sending it directly to the Consulate.

Cheers

Police Certificates - When to get

Hi all,

Wanting my husband to apply for his NZ police checks soon because I've heard it takes a few weeks to process and I'm just wanting to be proactive & to tick something off the list but wondering if I'm jumping the gun here and if it's better to wait. We are on month 9 of waiting for our I-130 approval - so our case still hasn't been sent to NVC and we haven't received welcome letter, case #, etc. Seeing the police checks get sent straight to the Consulate - are there any opinions on when is the best time to request it? I guess I'm worried if they don't immediately have a NVC case to link it to when they receive it then they'll just dismiss it but at the same time I don't want to wait longer than I have to and cause delays for myself down the line.

Any thoughts here?

Processing time if Petitioner has criminal charge

Hi,

I'm just wondering if the processing time for the I-130 would be drastically effected if the petitioner / USC has a criminal charge?

I have an underage alcohol related charge (DWAI) from 6+ years ago - my spouse is very aware - was never worried about it affecting our chance of approval as it's a nonviolent charge & all court requirements were completed so I don't imagine it will cause us any issues..

BUT, it just occurred to me that our petition might have some extra steps/review to go through because of this - basically I'm worried the processing time might be slower than the norm because of this.

If anyone has a similar situation could you link me your timeline or a relevant thread?

Cheers
