National Interest Exemption for EU/Schengen -> USA |

I renewed my O1b visa last June and have been patiently waiting until visa appointments open up at the American Consulate in Amsterdam to get my passport stamped. Finally, I'm able to visit the consulate on April 14!!! So I am thrilled to fly back to the Netherlands to renew (and see my mom after two years)... Due to the Schengen-ban, I cannot fly back to the US once I'm in Europe, due to my status (temporary worker, O1B) I requested a National Interest Exemption at the Consulate, to see if they can make sure to allow me entrance to the US again after renewing. This is what I received: Quote The NIE is processed at the time of the visa interview. There is no separate process. Always such a nice and friendly response from government workers :-))) Does anyone have experience with this process? I don't want to get stuck in the EU and be unable to fly back to my LA home. Thank you!

I have applied to the K1 visa and got a notice that you need to have a police record of every country you have lived in more than 6 months. I have lived in the United States of America for 6,5 months and was curious if this rule would still apply if it is only two weeks longer and the fact that the country I have lived in is the United States? The consulate couldn't help me answer the question...

This has probably been asked before but can t really find an answer online. I m a permanent resident, moved here in January 2020. I ve been working all year and paid taxes, Luckily still have my job. However, my american wife lost her job because of covid so we can definitely both use the stimulus check. She received both checkes. I didn t, because I didn t file taxes in 2019 cause I wasn t in the usa yet in 2019. Is there still a way to receive it?

Hi All! Currently my sister-in-law is here from Canada. She holds a Canadian passport and doesn t have American citizenship or American Residency. She came here by air plane. Now she wants to go to Tijuana, Mexico to see a dentist. I thought all non-essential border traffic is closed. I m thinking that when she wants to try to return to the USA in San Ysidro by car she will be refused entry. Can somebody confirm if this is still the case? Thank you!

Hey guys! Hope someone went through this and can help me out. Back in 2013, I was an Au Pair, but couldn t file my taxes bc I lost my SSN (tried to retrieve it, was already back in the Netherlands and US can t provide it without you being here in person). Anyway, since I can file for my 10yr GC around April 2021 and citizenship in about 1,5 years, I want to get it done now. My question is, should I fill all the personal info out as if it was back than? For example, it asks if you ever applied for a GC and if you ever changed your visa status. Back than the answer was no, of course now I have a GC (since 2019) and moved back here in 2018 on a K1. Also, I took my husbands name, but in 2013 I wasn t married, so I had my maiden name. I would think I would have to fill it out with info from back than, just don t wanna get in trouble with immigration for lying on my tax forms, which I m obviously not trying to do. Any insight would be much appreciated! I m also planning on adding a letter with an explanation to the IRS, so they know it s good intent. Thanks!
