I currently have a travel document which will expire on 5/2/21. I filed the application for renewal of the travel document about 6 weeks ago. Can I leave the US this month and return to the US after the renewal application is approved?

Hello friends. My case was expedited and my status was case ready as of March 15th however, my embassy states that they have not received my case and when they will they will contact me. It has been 2 weeks. I was wondering how long it took from case ready to schedule an interview? (Not the actual interview) thanks a lot!
