Questions for I130 processing. Fast approval for many forum members? Is there any notification between I130 NOA1 and NOA2?

Hi everyone,

I think I remember some thread where someone said they received a notification that their I-130 is now being processed before getting the NOA2. We turned in our I-130 in early April and I just did a search in the database and was very surprised to see that most people who sent their applications around the same time (like us from Europe/EU/Germany) already have theirs approved. We are still waiting... I know that this topic comes up very often. Should we be concerned about this (of course I am concerned, but I am just surprised how fast the process is for many in a similar situation as ours, especially as ours should be a super-safe case)? I am still getting the same message since we turned it in...

On April 8, 2021, we received your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number (removed), and sent you a receipt notice or acceptance notice. The notice describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

On my receipt it says we're at Nebraska Service Center. I read somewhere that that might not be correct if I filed online. How do I find that out?

best, Tom

Apply for SSN separately from AOS

Hi all

I arrived to the US beginning of August on my K1 and wanted to make an appointment at the SSA-office right away.

The person I had on the phone told me they can only schedule an appointment for me, once it will be 2 weeks after my US entry date (that seemed legit to me, since I read somewhere that it will take 2 weeks after my entry until USCIS has all my data in their system), so I waited another week.

However my wedding was only a few days after that conversation, and since I want to take my husband's name, I would like to request my SSN with the new name now, to have everything issued on the correct name.

Now I found out that I will probably run into huge delays with the SSN because it will be harder to gather information about me in my home country due to the new married name.

Since I don't want to waste any time and file my AOS while waiting on my SSN, my question is - can I file the I-485 and check "NO" at "Do you want the SSA to issue you a Social Security Card?" since I already requested the SSN separately but don't have the number yet? Is that the correct way to file? Or should I check "Yes" and write N/A in the SSN field on the I-485 instead?

I hope I make sense.

Thank you in advance for your time & help.

Hi all,

in the list of requirements for medical exam for K1 Visa, one of them states BRING medical history? How does one acquire that? I thought this will be done at the doctors for the medical examination? Or do I have to get this from my GP doctor? I will be scheduled for Frankfurt Germany ...Anybody who can give me some advise?

I'd appreciate this.

Maintaining health insurance while traveling on I-131?

My German husband has an unconditional green card. We are traveling to Germany to see his family including his elderly mother. We may be there 1-2 years so we submitted the I-131 for reentry permit. At the same time we submitted the N-400 for naturalization since he's already been living here with me for 4 years (only 3 needed if married to a US citizen). That's estimated to take 21 months to process anyways but

Does anyone know whether it's advisable to maintain his/our US health insurance while we're gone? We could cancel it to save some monthly premiums, but if it'd be helpful to "maintain presence" here then maybe we should just continue with it. We'll still be filing US taxes while we're away, and we own property and have bank accounts & family ties. Because we were already here for 4 years together, he should have enough "continuous presence" for the N-400, we're just confused about what to do here.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Hi everyone,

We are thinking about trying for a baby sometime next year. I ve been a greencard holder since May 2019 and have been at my current job since June 2019. I m in Washington State and would qualify for 12 weeks of paid FMLA upon the birth of a child. Would the paid FMLA be considered a public charge? I was thinking that it wasn t since I worked for it and qualify based on my work history and not based on a financial need but am not 100% sure. I can t find anything officially about it online either. Does anyone know?
