My German husband has an unconditional green card. We are traveling to Germany to see his family including his elderly mother. We may be there 1-2 years so we submitted the I-131 for reentry permit. At the same time we submitted the N-400 for naturalization since he's already been living here with me for 4 years (only 3 needed if married to a US citizen). That's estimated to take 21 months to process anyways but Does anyone know whether it's advisable to maintain his/our US health insurance while we're gone? We could cancel it to save some monthly premiums, but if it'd be helpful to "maintain presence" here then maybe we should just continue with it. We'll still be filing US taxes while we're away, and we own property and have bank accounts & family ties. Because we were already here for 4 years together, he should have enough "continuous presence" for the N-400, we're just confused about what to do here. Thanks for any thoughts!

Hi everyone, We are thinking about trying for a baby sometime next year. I ve been a greencard holder since May 2019 and have been at my current job since June 2019. I m in Washington State and would qualify for 12 weeks of paid FMLA upon the birth of a child. Would the paid FMLA be considered a public charge? I was thinking that it wasn t since I worked for it and qualify based on my work history and not based on a financial need but am not 100% sure. I can t find anything officially about it online either. Does anyone know?

Hello everyone, Up until the NVC stage our process was very smooth. But it smees like for some reason my husband could not use the I 864 EZ. We submitted the lengthy form of the I 864 the same day we got the request on the 17th of June. But have not heard anything from them still. All the other documents were accepted 3 weeks after uploading them. When uploading the I 864 we could not switch the document type from the I 864 EZ, so the I 864 is uploaded in the category of I 864 EZ. Do you think that is causing a problem? Or is NVC for some reason processing very slowly all of a sudden? (Our date is not current yet) Thanks a lot!

Hello all, My wife (U.S. citizen) and I (German citizen) live in Germany and my wife works for her U.S.-based employer remotely. We haven't started the green card process yet. We are about to send in the I-130 package. We were thinking of doing DCF at the Frankfurt consulate to speed up the green card process. We would ask my wife's employer to draft a letter stating that she needs to come back to U.S. within the next couple of months. Does anyone know how much time you can currently save with DCF in Frankfurt compared to USCIS with the I-130? Would that usually be proof enough to get approved for DCF? Does the USCIS actually contact the employer to confirm? I would really appreciate any info you have!
