US Immigration from Canada

Hello All,

I would appreciate your advice on this matter.

We recently welcomed a baby here in Canada and are planning to permanently relocate to the U.S. by the end of July. My spouse and I already have our Green Cards, but our newborn does not, and the official birth certificate (issued in Quebec) won't be available until around August.

I understand that children are generally allowed to cross the land border with a birth certificate. However, since we won t have that document by the time we plan to travel, I m wondering if there are any alternatives we can use.

We do have the green attestation paper from the hospital, but unfortunately, it doesn t include the names of the parents or the child.

Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Green Card holder here. On all of my documents, Visa sticker, packet, Green Card, etc., my Country of Birth is listed as Hong Kong or HNK.

I noticed when I applied for a Driver's License in New York when they verified my status on the SAVE system, it listed my Country of Birth as CHN - China.

Do you know what system that would be listed in, and should I get it corrected? As of now, Hong Kong is still a SAR and is listed separately from China, so not sure what system has that information.

I have a US immigrant visa valid until end of the year. I plan to begin my US PR status only in December as I still need to sell my properties before becoming a US tax resident. From now until then, can I enter the US as a tourist/business visitor without using the IV visa/activating the greencard status? I m Canadian so I don t need B1/B2 visa.

Does this card get process by the officers at border when you travel for the first time after the visa is issued ?
