Hello, just wondering if others are in similar situation. I am currently in Australia and international borders are still closed. I applied to Australian Border Forces for an exemption to exit Aus. to relocate to US. I have current GC, however my 2 year re-entry permit expires in July 2021. I had intended to relocate 12 months ago to US, but I didn't think that border lockdown would be so strict and still be in place. Lockdown in Australia started March 2020. My exemption application was unsuccessful. I was advised in the reply notice to investigate with US consulates in Australia, as "provisions had be made for US visa holders outside the US" who were affected by Covid19 border restrictions. I did this via email, with my details and received a generic reply outlining responsibility of having a GC, which I am aware of. There were no provisions or amendments for re-entry permits and there was no mention of Covid19. Just hoping that there may be another avenue to explore! Best of luck to you all.

Hello, Husband and I are eventually going to file under married filing jointly. But we are filing an extension as we are (still) waiting on his SSN and don't want apply for an ITIN. On this form, what am I supposed to write down when it asks for his SSN when he doesn't have one? This is the whole reason why we are filing the extension - no SSN yet.

Hi All! My spouse's interview with the US Consulate in Sydney is in a week (yay!) and we'd like for him to be able to head here as quickly as reasonably possible, presuming everything goes well and he's granted PR status. I'm wondering if there's anyone here who's applied for an exemption to leave Australia and, if so, what you included as evidence. I have a short list of things in mind, but I've also heard ABF can be a bit finicky about approving these. He will be leaving Australia permanently and not returning for the next few years while we build our lives together. We're not sure if he should buy a ticket to show he intends to leave, or get the exemption first? Any advice would be helpful! Thanks! Ayana

Do we need to renew EAD for someone who has a green card? |

My wife has a green card which expires in September 2021, so we ll be filing her Removal of Conditions (I-751) paperwork in June. However, her EAD/AP combo card expires in May. My understanding was that once we have the green card, we don t need to do anything else to keep EAD/AP going except for Removal of Conditions. But I ve seen a few threads here where other K-1 visa holders are discussing renewing the combo card. Do we need to do this, given that she has a green card already? If so: - Can she still work while the EAD/AP renewal is pending?
- I had read in another thread that there could be a 180-day extension. But my wife is a teacher, and her school year follows a typical U.S. school year. So an EAD that expires in November would be expiring during the school year. How can we make sure that she s ok to work through the rest of the year?
- Is there anything that we or her employer can do to expedite the renewal?
Also, thinking ahead to I-751: her green card will probably expire while we are waiting for this to process. As long as we have filed that form, is she still able to work?
