To view the status of a case, please enter the corresponding application receipt number. The 13-character application receipt number can be found on application notices you have received from the USCIS. It begins with three letters such as (EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC). Dashes ("-") should be omitted when entering a receipt number. However, all other characters, including asterisks ("*"), can be included if listed on your notice as part of the receipt number.

We just got our NOA1 hard copy  and we checked it on USCIS for the status using the 13-character (Receipt Number). At first I got an error because i forgot to omit the dashes. I tried it again without the dash then it worked!

Good luck!!

well still not working for me !!!

Nobody really knows why. Some people are able to look up their cases right away and others have to wait until after biometrics. And others just keep trying and one day - et voila - they have access to their case(s) online.

Happened to me today. I've been trying since NOA1 - to no avail. But this morning I was able to look up at least our AOS. EAD still shows error message.

Keep trying.

USCIS stated in their press room articles due to the massive filing before the increase they were experiencing a slowdown. Should be expected.

But that still doesn't explain why some people have access to their cases and some don't, given that the timelines are somewhat identical (pre-fee-increase...).

If a slowdown of the system is the reason then shouldn't every case be equally affected?

Why not? These are people entering in the data -ie- data entry ... who is to say that one data entry person isn't slower than others or got pulled off to do something else. Speculation here is what makes everyone crazy. USCIS stated they are experiencing a slowdown and hope to be caught up to speed shortly.

Yes, me! I filed back in mid-July 2007 and had biometrics at the beginning of September and my AOS case status is yet to appear, I just get the error:

Validation Error(s)

You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

Case Status Retrieval Failed

This Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center.

I know I'm entering it correctly because my EAD case status shows up OK. GRRR!

Does anyone know if it's the local USCIS office who enter it into the system? If so, Charlotte NC must just be incredibly slow. Going by the number of people on VJ who are from NC there seems to be very few so I don't know why the hold up! (Obviously there are many more people not on VJ but at least it's a small indicator.)
