Hey filers!

Total noob question for y'all. As it turns out, our attorney is finally sending the papers tomorrow via Fedex (so they should be there pretty quick) but aside from the check being cashed, how did you guys start keeping track of your case in the USCIS website?

I have a case number from my I-130 but since this will be yet another process I'm not sure how to keep track of it. How did you guys get the receipt number for your I-485 without hard copy?

06/25/2013 - I-130 sent via USPS
06/27/2013 - Delivered to USCIS Chicago

07/02/2013 - Received USCIS Acceptance Confirmation email (PD June 28).

07/03/2013 - Check cashed

09/11/2013 - I-130 transferred to Nebraska Service Center

11/13/2013 - I-130 transferred to USCIS local field office (3 weeks after the interview)

11/25/2013 - I-130 Approved

F2A: This category was made “Current” in an effort to generate new demand for the upcoming fiscal year. Information received during discussions with the National Visa Center and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services indicates that this action is already having the intended result. Therefore, it is likely that a cut-off will be imposed for October. This cut-off is unlikely to have any negative impact on those who have already initiated action on their case prior to the announcement of the October cut-off dates.

How I understand this is that the new cut off date (PD) may be Sep 8 to 12, 2013 or whenever they will announce october visa bulletin or very close to it.

DOS idea of making F2A current was well intentioned, unfortunately mistimed. We have less than 60 days to go for the 2013 fiscal year and they still have a lot of unused visas.

I doubt if any of us are gonna catch the deadline before the fiscal year ends. Therefore a lot more visas will be wasted again for F2A!!

If DOS had made F2A current say in July, a lot more visas will have been used in the 90-day period (Jul-Sept). Atleast they are a handful of applicants that have gotten visas between 75 and 90 days from submission of I-485.

At least the good thing is that they have relieved the F1s from this huge international student tuition rates.

People will not struggle to maintain status again by paying huge $$$ in tuition rates and registering even for classes that you do not need just to get 12 credits.

It will be interesting to see how far back it retrogresses in October.
