PSA: If entering the USA 2 years after marriage, kindly remind the immigration officer of this
When we last entered the US, our immigration officer said "Oh, hmm I wonder if I could go ahead and change you an IR-1."  The agent right next to him said "Yes, you can do that" and he acted surprised. His comments made it pretty clear he was going to erroneously issue us a CR-1 and he seemed to not even know he could change the visa status until his coworker advised him (THANK GOODNESS she overheard!).  I don't know how onerous the process is to correct such an oversight but I'm glad we didn't have to find out!

Just wanted to pass this along in the hopes it saves someone from any problems with the wrong stamp being placed in the passport, as I've read about here before....  I would kindly remind the officer "We married >2 years ago.  We can enter with an IR-1 visa now right?"

Traveled to Canada for 20 days after entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa (June 1–22). Seeking reentry under Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR).
I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?

Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

Hello all! My son's petition finally became documentarily qualified on 12/31/2025, and our visa category is F22. I was wondering if anyone here with the same visa category can share when they received an interview letter from the US embassy. I've seen on other platforms that it can take about 3 months (or more), but the ones I saw are mainly for IR visa categories. I also understand that there is an IV Scheduling Tool online, but I want to check if the dates given there are accurate. My son is already over 21 years old and I am worried that he might age out of the F22 visa category if we do not receive an interview letter soon. Here are a couple more details regarding our case:

    - Visa category: F2A (Specifically F22)

    - Son's Date of Birth: 01/02/2004

    - Priority Date: 07/02/2022

    - USCIS Approval Date: 11/06/2025

    - Documentarily Qualified: 12/31/2025

    Thank you!

I haven't seen anyone start this so I will.

Apparently November filers are the first full month to be able to use the new online form so that's interesting. I didn't realize the online form was so new or I might have done it by mail. Right now I am in total stress out mode.

Timeline so far (spouse and minor son on same I-751 form):

    - Submitted packet online form first day possible - 11/13

    - Confirmation of receipt notice USCIS online account - 11/13

    - Received extension letter in mail - TBD... (still haven't received the receipt notice in the mail yet and it's killing me even though it says it was sent in our account)

The 60 days for inquiry isn't until 1/12/2026 which is killing me.

Hello- I am hoping someone who knows the K-1 process is able to help- we have filed for a K1 as of March 2025, we received a RFE in December and even though I am working with an immigration attorney here in PA, he hasn't been any help and I need to do research on my own.

For our RFE, my Dominican Fiance was asked to provide an Acta Inextensa for proof of his divorce (he sent in an Extracto De Acta De Divocio). The Inextensa is requested because it is more detailed and has more information. He went to the local records office in the Dominican and was told that as of July 2025, they no longer have a Acta Inextensa and now only have 1 option which is an Acta De Divorcio.

I'm concerned if we send this new document and not what was requested it will not be accepted for the RFE. Is anyone familiar with this in the DR? Is there anyway to get the older document? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hello! I'm a bit confused about what the current situation of our K-1 Visa is. On USCIS Case Status page, we were told our form was approved on 4th of November, 2025. We also received our confirmation via physical mail, and on the letter, it states "We have sent the original visa petition to the Department of State National Visa Center (NVC.)" The physical letter also states our approval is valid from 3rd of November, 2025 to 3rd of February, 2026.

On December 9th, we sent an inquiry to NVC to check if they got our case. They responded and said they did not receive it, and that it could take up to 6 weeks. On the USCIS Case Status page, it still says "Case Was Approved." No status change on the page. Are they still holding our application in USCIS? It's been almost 60 days, and I'm afraid of our case getting lost. Is anyone else experiencing this long of a delay? To be clear; I'm not worried about NVC processing our case, I'm worried about the application leaving the USCIS at all.

Please let me know! Thank you!

I got NVC document checklist but it does not say if I have to upload to physically mail the documents. Can someone please help me with this?
Also the checklist mentions a list of documents which I guess is not applicable to me. How should I know what to send?

@aracia70, I saw your message on the thread I started about Ciudad Juarez. I've added your case to my tracker. I usually post an update once a month if anyone I am tracking received their interview assignment.

Hello @Cesarr. I hope you are doing well. I wanted to check with you to ask if you've received any news from the NVC? Some people with DQ dates in October have started to receive appointments. Did you receive a message?
