Traveled to Canada for 20 days after entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa (June 1–22). Seeking reentry under Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR).
I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?

Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

My wife just got her interview appointment date in Bogota and is now scheduling the medical exams. Unfortunately other than COVID and Yellow Fever, she doesn't have any records of her childhood vaccinations. She believes she received them as a child, but never had a vaccination card. I'm understanding she'll need to receive them from the doctor completing the medical examination. Has anybody else been in this situation, and did it cause any delays? I'm concerned that with timelines of some vaccinations, boosters, etc, it may not be complete prior to her visa interview on September 3. I'm hoping that I'm worrying unnecessarily.

Please don't judge my husbands past mistake. My husband had retail theft on his background from September of 2021 as a misdemeanor. He never was booked or served any jail time. The case was dropped in court as well. He has never been in trouble before or after this event. He's been here almost 12 years as permanent resident. He wants to become a citizen finally but we're worried if this will affect him.

    Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone! I m interested in applying for my mother in laws tourist visa. She lives in Dominican Republic and has applied several times and ever time they deny her but will not give her a reason.

She owns her home, has a restaurant, two older children there, a car, bank account with money in it. So I m not sure what the reason is for the denial.

She was using a lawyer over there to fill out her paperwork but Im going to fill out the paperwork this time to see if it makes a difference. Any suggestions?

    thank you!

I am seeking help regarding an administration process delay in EB2 NIW visa. Can anyone refer an experienced immigration law firm or attorney experienced in litigation, especially in mandamus lawsuits?

Domestic violence while waiting for the green card

Hi all, I want to keep it as short as possible. I have a question on possible scenarios and best options before I involve lawyers or the police, which I was about to do today. My husband is waiting for his GC, the interview was back in early May. The approval letter came soon after, but then nothing. He says the system says the green card has been delivered and that I stole his documents.

He does not drive, has no job, no income or savings, relies on me for everything from getting the groceries to paying our bills. It was not my intention to have it that way - I offered to have a joint account but he says he wants his own, but first has to secure a job, and he will be learning to drive as soon as he has secured an income. All he's doing is applying and interview prepping for remote IT work, he has solid resume but no local US work experience of course, and the market is weird now. I am willing to move wherever, as I am working remotely as well, and drive him to the office, if needed. It's been six months since he got his work permit but he says he applied around and no bank would open him an account without the green card.

Lately he started to get abusive both verbally and physically. The day before yesterday he accused me of refusing to take him to the hospital, as he is in great pain from me supposedly breaking his rib. He got violent the other day and broke down the bedroom door screaming he is going to hit me, and when the door gave up I ran out to the car and pushed him off my way so that is what he might be referring to when he says I injured him. I did not involve the police that time out of shock, and I have no evidence expect for the photos of the door, which he since fixed somewhat. He now also claims I broke it myself. So when I offered to take him to ER he just shut down and kept repeating that I am refusing to help him. It was so wild! I started recording every conversation since then, although we don't speak English there...would that be a problem using it as evidence? He slammed doors again, which just made me instantly panic, so I packed up and drove to my mom's place which is less that two hours away, seeing that he said I am abandoning him and he's going to die there in need of urgent care with no means to call for or get help. As he has no one in this country except for me and is very close with his parents, I have expressed my desire to contact them to either get them to get through to him, or to help him move on his own, to which he always reacts violently. So this morning I got audio recordings of him screaming he will kill and bury me and my parents if I even think about contacting his family. That he will make it his life's mission to destroy me if I hurt his parents. So, I want to report him to the police as I got very scared and it is very serious threats. I left that instant. I stopped by the police station but they were closed for the day and gave me deputy's number. So I'm thinking all these audio recordings I have are not in English though. How do I go about it? I also have a video of him blocking the doorway with his body and rolling on the floor repeating "please stop hitting me" where it is clearly seen I am not touching him at all. He does not speak English there as well. He accused me of cheating and lying and marrying him for money. This all is absolutely not true and I suspect he is not of sound mind considering it all. I have packed my things and left to a safe place for now, the fridge is fully stocked, the rent is paid through end of August. He has no money to pay for anything, he claims his phone line is off so he can't call for help and I abandoned him there in the desert all alone with no means to get help. I have offered to drive him to the airport and buy a ticket back home before, if that is what he wants, it never came out to anything though. So my question is, if I go to the police, and present them with what I have, what is likely happen? He has expressed that he basically hates me and my entire bloodline, and he knows my parents' address, in fact, it's his official mailing address. I am his one and only sponsor as well. I would like to stop financing this horror asap but I also I don't want him to get arrested and endanger my family by angering him even more...who knows what he might do? He might hurt himself and accuse me of it? Please advise! Thank you

Hey you OldUser:  Can you help remind me where on VisaJourney we can go an view applicants with similar Visa applications to get a real idea of where we stand in the line?  Or maybe it is easier to go somewhere on the USCIS website??   We applied for my Wife's adult brother some 12 years ago and originally we thought it was going to b a 20 year process....it sounds like it might be a much longer process putting in jeopardy his ability to bring his under 21 year old children along with his wife.   Thanks, Eric

      need help everyone. thank you!
      1. i am so confused between these two. the first one states I should include my husband’s current annual income and he got a higher annual income now since he got promoted to a new position in the company a week before our wedding.

and the 2nd one shows his recent 2024 annual income and it’s a different amount from his previous position in the same company. is it ok if both amounts are different?
      2. hubby had jr in our petition but it was omitted on our marriage certificate, for i-864 and i-485 should we continue using our last name with jr?

      3. in the i-864 should we include hubby’s current job position in the same company, even it it’s different from the i-134 job position he has?

      thank you

I have a question. my i485 was denied because of affidavit wasn't done incorrectly. but my son case still pending. should I refile for him or just myself? when I refile should I add him on the new affidavit even though his case still pending? what's the best way to fill out a i864 with a joint sponsor if my spouse doesn't meet the requirements? Is my son case on Hold till I sort my stuff out? or will it be denied? sorry a lot of questions thanks in advance

Well, the Journey is over. My wife became a US citizen on July 1st 2025.
I want to thank all the people here for the help along the way.
When we started this, I was just looking for information about the different visa options. And stumbled on to this site.
Little did I know, that I would actually find a "second" family of friends, helpful resources and people willing to actually help a Newby along the way.
We did all the paperwork from beginning to end ourselves; and yes some mistakes were made that costs time and money but it was learning experience and I hope that anyone reading our timeline, learns how to avoid them and make the right moves for their journey.
Special thanks to @Hank who hasn't been online in a couple years but I think was the most informed person here on anything about the Philippines and to all the ones that answered my questions no matter how simple they seemed to be.
Although we have made to the end of our rainbow, I will be checking in and hopefully get to use the things I have learned to help others along their Visa Journey.
      Thank You again,
      Michael and Angelica
