Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

N400: Admitted to Weed during Green Card (was it a crime I was not arrested for?)
To start, marijuana is illegal in my country of origin. When I was applying for my green card I admitted to trying marijuana when I was in my 20's (I'm 49 now). I got my green card and have lived in the US for 5 years. I'm in the process of applying for citizenship. What answer should I give to the question: "Have you EVER committed, agreed to commit, asked someone else to commit, helped commit, or tried to commit a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested? Yes or No" given that I admitted to past marijuana use during the GC process?

Fiancée threatened with deportation by customs agent after arriving at airport for false accusations. How concerned should we be?
Firstly, I want to get some things clear because I know everyone will say this otherwise:
We are seeing an immigration attorney for consultation soon. We've already printed out several documents to prove that my fiancée is not coming here with the intent to live here for the future until they get the K-1 Visa... Now, Heres the actual story...

Fiance or Marriage Visa in 2025 ? Pros and cons?
    I'm 23F 🇨🇿, my partner is 29M 🇺🇲
We want to get our visa going sometime this year and want to be together as soon as possible but we are still unsure which visa would serve us better. I'd like to get married in my home country but on the other side i wouldn't mind getting married paperwise in the US and waiting for my work permit and etc if it would allow us to be together faster and then save up for and have our dream wedding in my home country.

What do you think ? All of this is so overwhelming and confusing and we just want to do the right thing.

I asked the same question on reddit, so many people recommended me to go with fiance visa, two suggested marriage visa. I need more input and advice  from experienced people. Thank you
Ps: is it possible to have dual citizenship so i don't lose one from my home country? How does that work ?

Can a Permanent Resident Stepchild Become a U.S. Citizen If Their Mother has NTA to accused fraud?

Hey everyone, I have a question about a hypothetical immigration situation and would like some feedback.

    Scenario:

    • A child entered the U.S. lawfully through their mother's F1 student visa.

    • The child s mother later married a U.S. citizen and obtained permanent residency.

    • The child, as the stepchild of the U.S. citizen, obtained permanent residency before turning 18.

    • Years later, the mother receives a Notice to Appear for being accused of immigration fraud (immigration school fraud) related to her case (child does not receive one).

    • The child is now an adult but still holds permanent residency.

Given this situation, is there still a pathway for the child to become a U.S. citizen? Would the mother's legal issues affect the child s ability to apply for citizenship?

Any insights would be really appreciated.

What would be the implications of paying someone to be a joint sponsor

My wife and I have been married for 1.5 years and I have been in the US living with her for about 11 months (I overstay my tourist visa). She had two kids and we recently had a baby together. She has struggled for so many years (mostly because her family is not the best), so she has been unable to work consistenly, to the point she has only filed a tax return this year. As a mom of three, it is almost impossible for her to reach the income neccesary to be my sponsor, or it would take so many years to achieve. However, due to the recent administration changes, waiting is something we cannot afford anymore.

She already submitted the form I-130 with all the evidence of our relationship, just to get things started and to show good morale and our intention to "follow the rules" in case the worst happens. We are aware that filling this form won't really help to get the AOS to happen by itself, but we decided it is better to do something than nothing. I also got my I693 completed and I got the sealed envelope already.

As I mentioned previously, her family is not an option as she is virtually alone. She has basically no friends, and I don't have a support group in this country either. We have been trying to look for a sponsor but it has been impossible. We are also aware that a strange is not going to help us just because, and for that reason we have been considering trying to get some money somewhere to offer someone to help us, because again, no one would like to take the risk just for a "thank you" message.

We want to do this process the right way, so before doing something that may not be allowed we would like to know what could be the cons of finding someone that is willing to be the sponsor in exchange of money. I couldn't find anything specific forbidding this, but personally we feel is not 100% ethical. Again, our options are extremely limited.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and we appreciate your answers in advance!

I visited the US in may of 2025 with my parents (it was my first time) for 7 days in New York we stayed at a hotel. I was just wondering would it be advisable for me to go again in August 2025 by myself to visit my long distance girlfriend? She couldn t meet me in New York due to certain reasons. Would that time frame from may to August be too short to travel again?

    Hello all,

My fiance completed her TB Treatment back on September 04, 2024. Slec has previously advised us to come back a year after. I already scheduled her next medical exam on September 8 2025.

    My questions are:

    1) Do I need to pay for the medical exam although we already paid for the 1st exam?

    2) Is it ok to just schedule my next medical examination, as I stated above?

    3) What do I do with K-1 Visa since it is expired?

    4) Do I need to redo my D160?

    5) What other things do we need to work on?

I truly appreciate your assistance with this.

Well, the Journey is over. My wife became a US citizen on July 1st 2025.
I want to thank all the people here for the help along the way.
When we started this, I was just looking for information about the different visa options. And stumbled on to this site.
Little did I know, that I would actually find a "second" family of friends, helpful resources and people willing to actually help a Newby along the way.
We did all the paperwork from beginning to end ourselves; and yes some mistakes were made that costs time and money but it was learning experience and I hope that anyone reading our timeline, learns how to avoid them and make the right moves for their journey.
Special thanks to @Hank who hasn't been online in a couple years but I think was the most informed person here on anything about the Philippines and to all the ones that answered my questions no matter how simple they seemed to be.
Although we have made to the end of our rainbow, I will be checking in and hopefully get to use the things I have learned to help others along their Visa Journey.
      Thank You again,
      Michael and Angelica

      Hi everyone,
I’ve already received my NOA2 and have been waiting for my case number for about 2 months now.
I’m planning to submit a public inquiry to the NVC, but I’m wondering:

      1. is it okay if the beneficiary submits the public inquiry to ask Case Number, or does it have to be the petitioner?

      2. how long does it usually take to receive the case number after submitting the public inquiry?

Thanks in advance for your help

      Hello all,

just a quick (and may be a silly one) question on time line for case status with USCIS.

when you see “Estimated time until your case decision:” is updated; how you interpret the months shows? E.g., if “Estimated time until your case decision:“ shows 11 months, does it mean that 11 months are from the original receipt date? Or is it from the day the status was updated?

      Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone I really need help right now my case is in US consulate Montreal but was placed on administrative processing but I’m back in my home country Nigeria and I’ve been having difficulty communicating with them in regards to the transfer of my case
if anyone knows their mobile number and email address for Immigrant cases please let me know
thank you for your assistance in advance.

and another thing it’s been about two years since I went for my last interview and was refused based on the fact that I had outgrown my category and was told to wait
while transferring to another consulate do I need to also contact and NVC and notify them about it and does it affect my case in anyway.

Hey! I tried to go back to the thread where we were chatting about the increased timeline, but can’t seem to find it.

anyway I wanted to spread some hope your way. I’m apart of several k1 visa groups, some of which are on Facebook and ppl have been talking about the increased timeline there too.

one person shared this and 🤞🏽they are right. Just wanted to share with you because I know we were both feeling a bit hopeless.
