This topic reminds me of an incident that happened with me about two weeks ago...

I was on duty, doing paperwork (finishing up an arrest) in the parking-lot of the fire department. A fire-fighter I know but haven't seen in a long time walks up to my unit. I roll the window down, "What's up, Roland?"

"Hey Chad, how have you been?" etc etc.

He sees the small wedding picture I have taped to my laptop. "I heard you got married but I didn't know that you married a ######"

"F--k you" I replied. The smile leaves his face as he realized he cross the line. The stare down begins. I put my clip board down and unbuckled my seat-belt. After about 20 seconds he turns and walks back to the fire station.

It could have gone bad. And I would have been suspended because of someone's stupidity. Anyway, I read this and thought of that, wanted to share it also.

WOW  .....good for you for not lumping him one tho....how rude!

Wow. Good thing you had enough restraint to not hit him.

Thanks for sharing.

I was listening to an interview last night with director, Brian De Palma, on his upcoming filme, Redacted, about the 14 yr. old Iraqi girl who was raped and murdered by American soldiers. He said that it's common speak for soldiers to use perjorative terms when talking about the Iraqi's, even to the point that they are unaware that they are.

Chad: I'm so sorry that someone was stupid enough to say something like that to you. I can only imagine the things that you would have loved to do to show him how offensive his comment was.

I believe that was true in Somalia as well (if anyone remembers that anymore). They called them "skinnies" which I believe was a pejorative as well.

It may be a valid topic but I question the source.

It's off topic, doesn't matter who the source is.

Sad to say I have an uncle who is prejudice. He was a NYC cop, retired to Virginia. Haven't seen him in 10 years almost, obviously we aren't close to his part of the family. I am not even sure he realizes I married an Indian or "Dot head" he'd probably say (or much worse!). Just goes to show the South is not the only place with ppl with those attitudes, it's everywhere really.

I worked at a Chrysler dealership while in college, and heard racist comments from some guys there all the time about different races. But I had more interaction with them and routinely told them they were racists. They'd say they weren't. I'd say, no you really are!

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

It happens everywhere all the time. It's actually very sad.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Heres a thought, if you dont like VJ Troll or his threads, dont open and read them, doing so will make you more mature than you are acting in this thread

There is a lot of anti-Indian hate in NY/NJ.

Heh...I found this just now... (there's got to be a psychological dynamic to this)

The use of pejorative terms to describe patients: “Dirtball” revisited

The use of pejorative terms for patients is well documented. Reasons include frustration and anger in managing certain patients, fostering group solidarity among caregivers under stress, and the alleged “dehumanization” of medical training. Medical students were surveyed to document and understand the phenomenon.

I wonder what kind of reaction he was expecting that you would have. Unbelievable.

I cannot believe he said that to you...I think he wanted to get punched in the face.....I think I would've done it.

Thank God you controled yourself and didn't get in trouble at work.
