This goes out to all of those who have had interviews at the Lima Peru Embassy. Our interview date is on Monday December 3rd. and we have plane tickets back to the United States on the 6th. I thought I had seen on here that you can pick up the visa the next day at the embassy. Is this the case? I hope so! Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

It is recommended to not plan on the visa being approved. What if they deny the visa?

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I agree with YuAndDan, it's better not to make plans until your fiance has the visa in her hand. Even if they issue the visa, you never know for sure if there will be some type of delay.

Wow. The embassy in Lima was very good but you are guys are taking a big chance of already buying the ticket back to the US. We got approved very easily. Told we could get the visa 2 days later. But the next day they called and said her fingerprints didn't show up good and we had to go back. We ended up getting the visa about 5 days after approval.

Luckily we didn't purchase tickets until all the red tape was unraveled. Good luck.

I have read members reviews from Peru and many have stated that they were able to get the visa within a couple of days. If it takes longer, we will just have to change our plane tickets and go site seeing, not such a big deal. I was just hoping for some positive feedback.

My suggestion would be to make sure the tickets that you purchase have the ability for "changing" their date, without too high of a penalty being incurred (oh and MAKING sure that you have travel insurance organised as well)..

One thing about booking tickets well in advance is that you can sometimes pick up excellent travel deals (HOWEVER, read the fine print - many of those "extra deals" are non-changeable tickets).

One never knows what delays could happen at the interview stage or the visa preparation stage, so while it is VERY very tempting to book those tickets to the USA as quickly as possible after your interview date.

have a GREAT day

HI, in my case my appt in lima was tuesday August 21 and that day i was approved but they told me that the system was down so they couldn't issue the visa until the next day. So i picked it up on Friday 24th, just on time because we had our tickets for travelling on Saturday 25th, but we were lucky, you never know.
