I just recently went to a Nigerian wedding. The golf course hall was $ 500 and very nice. The friends from the Nigerian Association

cooked all the food, everyone pitched in and helped.

It was very classy and inexpensive.

That day was the Western wedding in white and the day before the traditional tribal wedding in Nigerian clothes at the home of the bride's parents.

All in all 2 weddings and 2 receptions within 2 days.......we had a ball !

Wow! Never thought about golf courses! Nice.

I feel out of the loop. Nice to know...thanks.

Big business out here

Golf is a old peoples sport lol. :jest:

I think that we need to keep in mind the purpose of why we post responses to threads. Many of us would agree that if someone posts a question or ask for a response to issue/question, it is up to us as individuals to be mindful that our response is relevant and thoughtful. Thank you all for you suggestions. My budget is 10,000 dollars. I just received a quote back from a major hotel chain that gave me an estimate of $8000 for a grand ball room with buffet style dinning. If liquor is to be served....than the fee will increase.

My thing is why spend so much money when those funds could invested in a house, education, funds for children....

I just want to be reasonable. Someone posted something about a golf course.... I gotta look into that. Sounds decent....

Also vineyards are reasonably priced. Thats where I am having mine.

The only thing that concerns me Missy, is that you have a guest list of 250+ people. It is going to be hard to keep the price down when it comes to per person pricing.

Is 10,000 your entire wedding budget? Or just your hall budget?

Donne moi une poptart!

Lucky for us our wedding was held in the philippines cheap simple and i personally think better. American weddings are too flashy lol to many people to invite lol.

dunno about where you live. but, in Oklahoma you can reserve the state capitol on a saturday...free blew my mind. i went a wedding there about 2 months ago. they've got 3 rooms (max occ. roughly 100-250 ea.) for the ceremony & the receptions are in the rotunda (max occ. a lot more than 250)....free

they even supply a judge for the ceremony....free

you might want to check it out where you live.

 the judge at the wedding was the head of the divorce court.

I had my pirate wedding at a city park on the beach. Cost me $50.00! Would have been more if I wanted an alcohol permit but no one missed it in the end :D

Are you kidding me! Alcohol is the only reason I even go to weddings!
