German beer./..one of the finest pleasures on Earth....

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

We have this one German restaurant here and it's actually run by a Polish lady. Well, and it's actually Polish food. She probably advertises it as German because she thinks more people will eat there than if she said it's Polish food where most people don't know what to expect...

It's a shame really! There was a great little place right by my house but it closed down...I was very sad that day...

Hmmm, the kasler (dunno the spelling) and potato salad of this really old pub in Rio, Bar Luiz, was amazing. They also serve the best barrel beer in town. Served cold to perfection (not german though, brazilian chopp).

The things I really miss (because I can't find or make them myself here) I wouldn't expect any restaurant in the US to have anyway - like "Flammkuchen", Weisswuerste mit Radi und Brezen, etc.

check if there's a Trader Joe's near where you live - they sell something called "Tarte d'Alsace" and is pretty close to what I would call a Flammkuchen :innocent:

Well, I know I'm quite happy with my German :)

Nooooooo!!!! Don't go there. Actually, no it's a sweet little town, but I took P there over the summer and he nearly died because it's not really Bavarian. It was started as a tourist attraction because the economy of the town was dying. They figured the location in the valley of the Cascades (it is the Cascades, right?) made it suitable for a Bavarian town. But no one there is actually German and much of their food and other items aren't really German either, according to him. He was probably the most authentically German thing in that town.

But it is a sweet little place and the cheese shop rocks.

My territory for my job is here, I talk to the locals and they give me tips on the best places. There are actually many german immigrants that live there.
