A great way for women to quit smoking is to understand that there is an "oral fixation" part to the habit. It's not all about the nicotine. Therefore, if a woman really wishes to stop for good, she needs to find a substitute for that cigarette.

The best way to find a good substitute is by asking her boyfriend or husband if he knows of anything she could place between her lips and in her mouth. He may have a few ideas. Since she'll be craving a cigarette at that moment, listen to him!

ANY TIME she feels the need for a cigarette between her lips, she should make use of that substitute. This method is guaranteed to make her forget about wanting a cigarette!

I quit years ago. I lost track after about 2 years. I used the gum to quit. You will notice that you can taste and smell a lot better. After a week or two its all mental. Just stay strong. I had to stay away from smokers for about a month.

Update: Oct 22nd - I've been smoke free for a week now. Saturday, Oct 20th I felt very stressed and I had a hard time trying not to smoke. But I succeeded.

Btw, I decided to quit Sat Oct 13, but I still smoked Sat and Sun Oct 14 I had my last cig.

Congratulations, that is a major accomplishment and you really should be very proud of yourself. You have made it through the most difficult period now. You may or may not have flare-ups so be perpared for them but they will get shorter and shorter as time passes!

I fell off the wagon with a few stray ciggies :( But I did get right back on track.

It's a bit of a disappointment to me, but I'm still determined!

it happens. You fall, you get up and keep going.

I haven't smoked since October 12th. I've had "Cigarette Candy" (Commit Cherry flavour) and some crappy nicotine gum. I chew one or two of the pieces of gum each day now, and that's it. 15 days and I still feel like killing people - it must just be my personality....

The diet went out the window, but I haven't put any weight ON - and that's just as important right now.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
