April and May Filers - NOA2 to NVC

NVC received my NOA2 on September 24th and the letter said they would send the package to Brazil within a week. I don't know why mine went so quick. Maybe because Vermont was my processing center or because they saw I was using a lawyer or I was just plain lucky. It took me 118 days to get my NOA2, so I didn't catch any breaks with that. But I feel a little embarrassed to have received mine so quickly while others have been waiting so long. I didn't come here to gloat but rather to give hope to people that have been waiting so long as I know this process is sooo agonizing. Best wishes to all and I hope everyone gets to see their loved ones soon.

Hey, congrats! I think Vermont sends them on to the NVC much faster than Cali. I'm coming up on three weeks since approval....oh please let it get there this week!!!

Good luck to us all! :)

P.S. how did you know it was there? Did you get a letter or did you call?

I received a letter about a week ago dated on 9/24 that gave me the case number and INS Receipt Number and they said the petition would be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where the visa interview will take place (i.e. Rio de Janiero, Brazil). Don't know if Brazil has received it yet.

GRRRR!!! I just called the NVC to see if our petition was there yet, and it wasn't :(. She said to give it up to 90 days to get there. HELLO???? 90 freaking days to mail something? Are they serious? As if waiting five months already wasn't long enough. I know it won't take that long but it just makes me sick to hear that. Sorry, had to vent. Feeling very frustrated today. :(

Waiting sucks! I don't think it will take 90 days! I'd say 30 days from the NOA2 to the NVC seems to be the average waiting time lately. There have been some lucky couples who their NVC notice a few days after NOA2 but that's not the norm :(

Hang in there!!!!

I suggest you contact the Consulate, most likely they have already received it! You can look for their website and email or call them.

I emailed my Consulate last week and they responded right away with the good news that my interview had been already scheduled, things work differently in the US Consulate here in Guatemala.

I had resolved to calling only once a week on Thursdays (no rhyme or reason why I chose Thursday) but tomorrow will be 30 days since my approval so I plan to give NVC a call sometime tomorrow (probably late evening). I'll let you know if I have any success. I have gained so much patience with this process now that I'm not really moved by being told I have to wait. :innocent::blush:

Looking up!

I asked my finance to call Brazil but she says that they aren't very nice and it is hard to talk to them. Anyway, I'll try to encourage her to call again as I think the squeaking wheel will help to push this along. Thanks for the advice.

Your fiance is right, they aren't always very nice to foreign people :(

Maybe she can do some searching on their website and find an email address, that's how I did it. Also, make sure she has the NVC case number so they can locate your file.

Good luck!

My finance just received her packet 3. We are very excited and I am surprised that we got it so quick, I figured it would be another couple of weeks as we got our NOA2 on 9/17 and the US consulate received our petition on the 24th. Hopefully we can get the packet 3 out to the government in a week or two (she still needs her updated passport which she will get next week). Can't wait till we can schedule the interview. Has anyone run into any problems with packet three and gathering the documents needed, medical exam, etc... Also, what is the typical wait time for an interview from the time packet 3 gets sent to them, 30 days? I know it varies by country, just looking for a ballpark number though. Thanks for all the help and good luck to everyone.

Hi everyone!

I am new on this forum and just wanted to introduce myself! I received my NOA2 yesterday and now am in the wait for NVC!!! Hope it is not as agonizing!

How does it work from here? Will my online profile be updated once it is received by NVC? Will I also receive a letter via snail mail? I was so excited when I talked to my lawyer today, I forgot to ask this question!

Also, about how long has it taken recently to be transferred from CSC to NVC lately? Is it really 30 days?? AH

Ok good luck everyone and nice to meet ya'all!

Hey Musicgirl, I was fed the same line when I called a few weeks ago, the lady was really rude about it too. As soon as I heard 90 days I just hung up on her. We are jerked around bad enough during this whole process I just can't bring myself to pleasantly accept a line of utter BS like that. I'm going to try and call again tomorrow maybe I'll have better luck. Hang in there we are all getting closer!

How does it work from here? Will my online profile be updated once it is received by NVC?

You'll be assigned a new case number once your petition arrives to the NVC, you wont be able to look at your case status online, if you want info. about it you'll have to call the NVC (603) 334-0700, make sure you talk to someone because the automated response does not keep record of the K-1 cases. You can give them your original case number for them to track your file, later they will give you a NVC case number.

Will I also receive a letter via snail mail?
You'll receive a notice from the NVC through snail mail, saying that they have received your case, it will include your new case number and it also says your case is being forwarded to the local consulate.

Also, about how long has it taken recently to be transferred from CSC to NVC lately? Is it really 30 days?? AH
Our file took almost 1 month :( in some cases it only takes a few days though. The VJ flowchart says 2 weeks...
