Hi y'all, today I had my interview.

Everything seemed to be going well, the consulate kept my passport but told me that me and my fiance need to look for a health insurance plan for the beneficiary. With the received email stating "Please email us a prospective private health insurance plan for the BEN"

I was wondering if anyone had the same experience and how long it took for them to get solved? CO told me we don't have to buy anything but look for one. Does that mean sending them an insurance plan that fits us will be enough?

Thank you so much for all the help

it just means the USC should check his state for health insurance to be able to provide bene with one that he can afford OR show that he can add the bene to work place insurance plan.  if the USC provides documents showing the search for a plan is made and income can support the cost,  that is embassy needs

Best to u both

Thank you so much for the response!

It was/is kind of vague for us, does that mean they want a screenshot of a insurance plan we can afford?

you can submit 1 document or several showing you have researched the Marketplace insurance site/ it does not matter which policy you end up taking / just that you have looked and understand the premium and the deductibles for each one   / BTW  low monthly premium payments for one mean large yearly deductible and larger premiums mean lower (but still high) yearly deductibles

If the USC is able to add u to his health care policy,  its much better    HR should be able to give the person a statement showing that after marriage in USA, the USC can add the wife (family) to work policy

Thank you so much y'all!

We got the "approved" status on CEAC after submitting a carefully written email with a plan attached in PDF earlier this morning.

My fiance and I are totally over the moon 🥰

Yee-HAAAAA!

(This, of course, is Texan for "Congratulations!")

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Did your embassy give any advanced notice that this information was required or did they surprise you with it at the interview?

We were told there on the spot, I don't know why.. but at least it seemed resolved the same day we sent the consulate the email.

Haven't really heard anyone else about it, especially since we do not have any health issues and are both in our 20s. Just be prepared to be able to have an answer on insurance, because I personally didn't. The CO only asked 2 questions about our relationship, which were only when we first met and how we met each other.

My fiancee's interview is next week so it was concerning to find out about a whole new topic.  Sending her with copies of the health insurance and "qualifying life event" pages from my employer's benefits book, hopefully that should satisfy any similar question.

Sounds like a good plan. This process made me realize you could never be over prepared! They didn't even ask for most of the paperwork I took with me, and it's way more laid back than you can imagine! Make her arrive early, I was the first one that day and was out in like 1H/1H 30M. Wish you both lots of good luck, fingers crossed :)
