How could you afford her (and yours) health insurance, and a million other things she she will need when she comes here?

Seems like you should wait until you get your degree, and get a job if you want to be successful in getting a K1 and having a happy marriage. Its a really terrible plan to do a K1 knowing you will lose your benefits and using your mother's house as collateral.  Losing your benefits when you get married, being disabled with no job, living with a jobless disabled mother is going to put a big strain on the marriage giving it a high probability of it not lasting very long .. despite her claimed love for you.  IMO, if you love her, wait until you have a job or you will put her through hell under the above conditions.

IMHO and with all due respect, he asked for immigration advice.  I don't recall he ever asked for financial advice.  That's none of our business.

In a way, maybe, but she's not coming to the USA until the financial issue is dealt with.   It's part of the immigration process.  Also, it seems the advice to finish the degree and go to work first, is the exact advice being followed by the OP.

My degree is going to go a bit slower since I'll be working full time until Gisell is here, but it's for the better anyway because living on Social Security Survivors benefits is beating your head into a wall and expecting the concrete to break. Since I can start work at pretty much anywhere I can get a job I'll be making significantly more money thatn I ever did on Survivor's benefits.

I think for the post they were referring to it was the tone. I didn't appreciate the tone either, but we live in a world where tone exists and some people use it more bluntly and I move on. I knew my financial situation was a longshot with the K-1 and the K-1 seems at this point like a very bad idea in this current climate with one mistake derailing the entirety of the process and with the CR-1 I don't need to worry about posting income until the filing for the NVC.

I did look you up sir and I appreciate your time and energy. This is extremely important for us and it's one of those things you get one shot at if you're lucky and I got lucky with the love of my life.
