K1 to AOS. I got an RFE few days after the interview for I-693 medical. I did the complete medical for k1 and applicant voluntarily completed vaccinations box was ticked. IO also confirmed they had my medical from K1 at the field office interview.

Now polio was waived in my k1 medical, so I believe that's what they want from me now.. to get the polio vaccine. But is the RFE also asking me to do the entire medical again also??

Please wise folks, lend me your understanding. Also is there a USCIS email or something I could ask them directly to clarify what they want and have it in writing? I'm so close to the finish line, I'm stressing. I don't want to mess up now.

You should only need to get the Polio Vaccine and then have the Civil Surgeon complete the Vaccine Assessment part of the I-693 (if you can find one that will do just the assessment). There is a box on page 1 of the form #4.A. you should check indicating you are eligible for the Vaccine Assessment Only because you completed your Immigration Medical Exam overseas. Make sure you bring proof of the Polio Vaccine being administered (we got ours done at a CVS) AND bring a copy of the DS-3025 Vaccine Worksheet from the medical exam overseas. If you can't find a Civil Surgeon that will do just the assessment (all too common unfortunately) you will have to do the whole exam. If this is the case, still bring the copy of the DS-3025 and the proof of the polio vaccination.

I thought so too. I contacted Dr. Harris office to setup the appointment at CMC. I haven't communicated with him directly but the lady staff at his office told me to email my RFE and she is now concluding I need to do the whole medical. So that got me all confused again.

Oh Lord.... Our friend in Maryland got the same exact RFE and they did just the Vaccine Assessment, sent it into the USCIS field office as instructed and were approved 7 days later.

I just checked my wife's report and Saint Lukes did this to her too. Polio is marked "A".

@2022 Unfortunately, most if not all Civil Surgeons will charge for a full medical to just transcribe the DS-3025 to the I-693, and charge extra for any vaccine or other services needed on top of the full medical. In our case, we ended up paying 545. You can read our experience at

It's $390 for the full medical where I'm going. Thanks to Edward, I know this doctor didn't rip him off and charged $50 for just doing the necessary paperwork. I guess since the reviews appear like USCIS likes this particular doctor, I'll do what he says.

I just wanted to know from the USCIS English RFE (let's be real, it confuses so many of us), what is it that USCIS wants? Just the polio from me or the general medical??

You have the USCIS English RFE from your original post.

Just give it to the Civil Surgeon.

The Civil Surgeon determines what you need and charges accordingly.

If you have the time to shop around for the lowest fee Civil Surgeon, then that is your choice.

In our case, we just wanted the fastest turnaround to meet our schedule.
