My wife has her interview next week. While reviewing and gathering all the documents uploaded with her N400, we noticed that the file for 2024’s federal tax return was actually a duplicate of the state return. I’m surprised she didn’t get an RFE. She’ll bring the federal return to the interview but what’s the best way to address it? Is there an appropriate time? Should she expect a delay of the decision?

Bring it but don't volunteer it unless asked. She may never be asked for it.

You can still upload it too.

We were leaning that direction. Perhaps a silly question but are the cases vetted for accuracy and proper supporting evidence before an interview is scheduled? I assume that since she got her interview date they were at least ok with what we provided.

Interview is a chance to make any corrections and provide any clarifications if necessary.

Just because interview is scheduled doesn't mean automatic approval or everything is fine. Not related to your case at all, but people get denied after interview. It's just to highlight the fact not everything gets flagged before the interview.

You will be fine either way. Some don't provide any tax transcripts and get approved.

It's not a requirement to upload it when you file, so there's nothing to worry about (and the reason for no RFE). You just bring it to the interview like most people do.
Those who forget to bring certain documents to the interview can get an RFE afterwards.

Just an update - wife was approved without issue today! No mention of taxes though we had them ready. All they asked for was her GC, driver’s license and passport. They also asked for our son’s birth certificate but gave it right back once they saw that we had already scanned and attached it to the application. They also didn’t even mention the marriage certificate which we brought per the notice. They asked a lot about my wife’s travels between the US and her home country quite a bit (beyond the past few years). She got a little flustered there since she/we have gone numerous times over 10 years! Hard to remember all the specifics. All in all it was a smooth and pleasant experience for her.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to do a same day oath ceremony but we’re extremely glad to have this chapter in our lives all but over. Thank you for all of your contributions here!
