I’ve tried researching but haven’t really gotten a clear answer, or maybe I missed it.  So I’m sorry if this has been answered.

My wife is from Cambodia, and is a US Citizen (in the US).  She recently filed an I-130 to bring her mom over here.

My wife has 2 siblings, over 21, not married, also in Cambodia.  She is looking to file for them as well.

I know it will take a long time.  But I’m wondering what is the best/correct route?

Should my wife file for her 2 siblings now?  If she does, do they need to remain unmarried until they arrive in the US?

Or should she wait for her mom to get here and become a resident, and then have her mom file for her 2 children?  And same question about them needing to remain unmarried.

Thank you for the help.

Both should file

F4 for siblings does not have a marriage aspect other than that they can come as derivatives.

F2b or F1 for children does but F3 for children married is there if the Mother naturalises.

They both should file since it going to take many years for either case.  For a sibling, it will take more than 20 years.  For Mom's petition, a little less time

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Another vote for both. It'll be quicker for the mother to file (maybe 12 years ish as a rough guide - longer if they get married in the interim), but if your wife files as well then they'd have another petition as back up just in case something happens to the mother.

Good luck.
