i wonder if a local tv station might be interested in this - win custody in court, get grief from the school.

Thought about that, si man, but wanted to exhaust proper channels first, si man.

Unfortunately, ex-Mrs.-T-B. got exhausted with it first, oh well man.

There has to be some solution, si man.

But the skool is relying on their Handbook, sigh man.

Skoolbus drama coming to a fruitless end, :girlwerewolf2xn: man.

From skooldistrict COO of Operations, see man:

---

Good Afternoon, si man:

We are unable to approve the requested accommodation, no man.

As outlined in the ISD Student & Parent Handbook, transportation service is limited to one designated pickup and drop‑off location per student, which must be on an approved stop and approved route, si man. Parents may designate a child‑care facility or a grandparent’s residence; however, multiple or alternating pickup and drop‑off locations are not permitted, si and no man.

While this request may appear limited in scope, approving such exceptions would create significant operational and capacity challenges, as similar requests occur frequently and must be applied consistently across the District, see man. For this reason, we must adhere to the established handbook guidance, si man.

We appreciate your understanding and remain available to assist within the parameters of current transportation guidelines, si man.

---

This is the verbatim reply from the Exec. DiRectum of Transpurtayshun, verbatim man.

Ex-Mrs.-T-B. has been cc'd on all of this and called us to tell us to knock it off, irritating and multiple rejections and "alternatives" man.  She says that Mini-B. can learn to ride a bike (not heretofore done, no man) the mile-plus from our casa to ex-she-man's casa when necessary, si man, and she can drive him to skool when possible, si man.  (This doesn't cover half the year when dark outside and doesn't cover the days during non-Two-Guys week when she can't take him, no man, and this will kill us, sigh man.  Mini-B. also can't ride bike from ex-she-man's casa to "our" skoolbus stop without having to deal with where to leave the bike, no man.

There are just two levels of appeal left, see man:  VP of Operations, she man, and Superintendent, he man.  The Skoolbored can dictate overall policy but not intervene in individual cases, si and no man.

Comments and suggestions, huh and sigh man?

How things have changed over the years.

When I was in high school there were two school buses that serviced our neighborhood because of the number of kids.  The bus that stopped closest to my house always came at least 5 minutes earlier than the other.  I do recall a few times when I was running late I saw my bus leave without me.  No problem, just run  to the stop for the other bus even though it meant cutting through several neighbors yards.  Same applied to returning home.  Just pick a bus and go, or if going to a classmates home in a different neighborhood just hop on their bus with them.

In Elementary, we were 1 block too close to qualify for bus service.  My brother and I rode our bikes essentially until first snowfall.  We hated walking.  If mom wasn't working school days in the winter, she'd often give us a ride.

In high school, we rode the city bus until we got our licenses.  Similar thing - first bus came, second bus came because there were too many kids.  Occasionally, I was like 2 seconds from the bus stop and the driver would see me trucking down the alley to get there and waited for me.

I think badging is fine but like you said, it was all good until they were strict about one route.  Your kid is in junior high...he's not an elementary school little who could legitimately be lost.  If you sign some sort of agreement at the beginning of the year, it should be fine. I understand the legalities of it all, but it doesn't mean there shouldn't be some change to the policies, especially for parents like yourself and ex-Mrs. TBone who can adult and coparent effectively.

Me too.  Although my ex said some really awful things to Kid1 about me when she confronted him last week about being a bad, non-committal parent.  He was diagnosed as a covert narcissist years and years back and that disorder was a large contributor to why we split up in the first place.  He'd been managing things in a manner that was tolerable but this was crossing the line.  I hope he doesn't suddenly attempt to speak to me because as far as I'm concerned, he's dead to me.  Kid2 is nearly 16.  When he turns 18, I'm beyond delighted to be done.

I am of the belief that if you and ex-Mrs.TBone sign an agreement with the school stating Mini-B can ride the bus that is designated for one of the 2 houses, it should be fine.  The badging system should be smart enough to manage this.  If it's not, then the board needs to go back to the developer and make them implement the change.  I suspect it probably exists, but no one knows about it.  That's my experience with software - many things exist but usually the person in charge from the purchaser's side has no flippin clue because they aren't a software person!

Gracias, mam ma'am.

The "agreement" is the Skool District's Parent & Stoodent Handbook, obviously the Bible man.

We were trying for a "narrow, limited" exception all along, si man.

They make us pick ONE route from ONE casa regardless of software capability, sigh man.

We would never have influence enough to convince the Skoolbored, sigh man.

The Hyskool Prinsippul did initially ask us for precise routes/days of need, si man.

We replied that we needed open flexibility, truth man.

To that, she said that skool admin had almost no influence over Transpurtayshun, sigh man.

We wonder whether it's worth reapproaching the Prinsippul, probably burned all bridges with Transpurtayshun by pestering them we man.

And ex-Mrs.-T-B. is sick of our "obsession" with this, "find alternatives" man.

All that it would take would be to let the respective skoolbus-drivers know that Mini-B. is OK to ride either route, :bonk: man.

That's my experience with software - many things exist but usually the person in charge from the purchaser's side has no flippin clue because they aren't a software person!

on the other side of the coin, the developer doesn't tell the end user about all of these features.   :hehe:
