To be honest, I have not jumped on the AI bandwagon as of yet.  With all the errors we see in AI output regarding immigration, it seems AI is not really all there yet and may never be as long as there are people and algos able to control the output.  If this is correct, the parents claims, it could be a big hit, and I can see others jumping on the bandwagon in a myriad of social engineering claims.

ChatGPT had actively encouraged his fixation by mentioning suicide 1,275 times “six times more often than Adam himself”, the filing alleges.

Nor have I.....for the reasons you stated.  I think that we are rapidly approaching the place where kids will be totally dependent on AI.  There will be a lack of critical thinking and problem solving skills.  In addition, AI is the perfect, biased tool for social engineering....dictating and reforming morality and culture.  I don't like where we are going......but I see no stopping it.

Mini-Bone's skool won't even assign much take-home homework for this very reason; they do it in class.  The Skool District is reportedly searching for ways to counteract or at least detect the use of AI in skoolwork.

This is so true.  I am all for using technology for my benefit, but yes, there are definitely drawbacks involved.  For instance, I will not connect any home appliances to the net, no connected garage door, or thermostat, etc.  Sure there is a measure of convenience to doing this, but there are also drawbacks that I would rather not deal with.

anyone who knows anything about IT won't do that either.
the thermostat one is a good one in that it allows the electric company to fiddle with your settings while you are not even home - and if you have pets, it could lead to the death of them.
