Hi everyone,

I'm working on my naturalization application (Form N-400).

On the myUSCIS website, it gives two options: filling out the form completely online, or uploading a filled PDF. It also states clearly that if you're applying for a reduced fee, you cannot file online; you must upload a PDF.

So, I followed those instructions: I downloaded the N-400 PDF, filled it out (including checking the box for the reduced fee in Part 10 and filling in the income fields), printed it, and then tried to upload it to my myUSCIS account.

However, after uploading, the system still shows the full payment amount of $710.

Curiously, the system seems to detect the legibility of the document and even recognizes my signature. But it doesn't seem to acknowledge where I checked the reduced fee box and filled in the corresponding fields in Part 10.

What am I missing here? Why isn't the system recognizing my reduced fee request in the uploaded PDF? What should I do next?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I thought you had to post it?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Dont the instructions say you cant do it online?

REQUEST FOR FEE WAIVER FOR FORM N-400
Fees are associated with filing Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, with limited exceptions.
Form G-1055, Fee Schedule, lists all current fees and fee exemptions for Form N-400. If a fee exemption for
Form N-400 applies to you, you do not need to request a fee waiver or pay the filing fee.
Fee waivers are available for those who meet specific criteria that clearly demonstrate that they are
unable to pay the fees. If you do not qualify for a fee waiver, you may qualify for a reduced filing fee. A
reduced feeis not the same as a fee waiver. For additional information, see the Instructions for Form
N-400. You may request a fee waiver by filing Form I-912, Request for Fee Waiver, or by submitting a
written request for a fee waiver, along with your paper Form N-400. If you are requesting a fee waiver,
you cannot submit your Form N-400 online and you must file paper versions of your fee waiver
request together with your Form N-400.
If you are requesting a fee waiver, do not submit a payment.

Oh ok.

yes, I am aware of that but the confusion comes because the site says, that if you want to apply for reduction fee you have to do the paper one and then upload it, the full online one does not apply for reduction, but printing it, filling it then uploading it does.

I don't have problem sending it by mail, i just want to know what happened there and if there any possibility to save some time doing it that way thy suggest.

I would follow the instructions

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Which one? The one that says on the page itself that to qualify for the reduced rate, I have to upload a scanned document? Or the one on Google that tells me to send a physical document for the reduced rate? (From another USCIS link)

Are you sure about that?  Boiler quoted the site which says it must be mailed.

You can only filed for a reduced fee or waiver at this time only through by the mailing version. Not online.

Even if you filled the upload version, while submitting, it will require you to pay the full amount.

If you don't pay, your files will not go through or will be rejected.

I tried it last month and it was rejected.

I finally mailed my form N-400 plus All the required documents and it was okay 👍.

After exactly two weeks, I received my receipt notice, the reused biometric and my online code in order of being able to sign it into my USCIS online account.

Everybody seeking fee waiver / reduced fee files on paper as of today, as far as I know.

True.

I tried to upload version and it was rejected because I didn't pay the full amount.

The reduced fee or waiver only work by mailing your completed form with all the evidence.
