Oh yes, I meant to ask if you can get passport card when you go for urgent passport. The form says the offices doing urgent passport cannot issue passport card, so does it come later in the mail?

I didn't try it myself, but I would assume so.  IIRC, the kids' passport cards came in the mail, not with the passports.  For rush passports, they print them on site; the cards aren't rush and I am pretty sure they are treated more like GC's in that they are printed at specific facilities.

My wife's appointment was today.  There was about two hours of waiting but no issues at all.  Six questions later she received approval with the oath ceremony scheduled for Dec 1 in new york city.  The only problem/question is we are due to fly back to Ireland on December 3 for Christmas.  Should we told tight and hope for a same day passport later on the 1st or 2nd, or should we push the oath ceremony till we get back, after New Years?

All depends at what time the oath ceremony is gonna be hold.

If it's in the morning and you scheduled your same day passport appointment for at least 3 hours after that, why not.

The problem is that they can not really tell how long the ceremony it self is gonna take.

If you feel it, Then go for it.

But you can push the oath ceremony after the new year in other to be more relaxed and stress free.

we just did both in NYC, you should have no problem, schedule your appointment before hand, once it's within the 14 day window, there were plenty of appointments when we booked last minute.
