I was looking for if they give you a folder or something for the certificate and came upon this post, but it's not the flex they think it is.

They do give you a folder with bunch of stuff before ceremony. You can place certificate in there.

Yes, my certificate was sent away with passport application. I took a digital scanner copy and few photos of it just in case. Yes, it was stapled and folded.

Yes, it actually arrived after passport, and unlike passport, it wasn't a tracked mail.

 

If you have history of mailman losing your mail, if you live in apartment building with known issues etc, then yes, maybe applying for urgent passport can eliminate the possibility of USPS losing the certificate. But in my case, I live in my own place and it's pretty reliable. There were no issues. Once I got certificate back I stored it in folder.

regarding the urgent passport, I did take a look at appointments and they have lots in the coming week, so it doesn't look like they're scarce

Yes I got exactly that one from Amazon. Not 100% happy with it because it says Certificate of Citizenship, and not Certificate of Naturalization. The difference is huge!  😃

 

But overall it does the job of protecting the certificate well.

I found one that doesn't have any text.

On Etsy you can buy a customized one, but I think they'll still using the same ones that are on amazon, just maybe buying direct from China

Life has been a little crazy and I haven’t had a chance to update all of you. 
 

Thursday (Oct 16) morning I got notification that my oath is scheduled for Nov 7. Unfortunately, I will be overseas on that date and will be back on Nov 8. So I called the USCIS number and requested a reschedule.

 

I then talked to Jim Hacking who told me that was a really dumb thing to do, and I should have cancelled my trip or come back earlier. But it was too late since I already placed reschedule request.

 

So, just to make sure the request is in the right hands, husband and I drove to the field office first thing Friday morning, and handed them a letter requesting reschedule. Guard was super nice and accommodating and after speaking to officer told me the officer said it wasn’t a problem, and I would be rescheduled

 

Later that day I got notification that my oath was cancelled and I am back in queue.

 

Little gutted for having not done more to attend the oath as scheduled, but atleast I feel better that the case is in the right hands and not in the black hole. I hope they will reschedule me for later in November, but that may be optimistic.

 

Will keep you all updated.

 

edit - on Friday when I went to the office, there was an oath ceremony scheduled to take place that morning. I was thinking, please please, can’t you just let me take the oath today. Ofcourse it is never that easy. 😁

We have similar cases, early filing, 5 year provision. 

When I contacted Live Agent through Emma, I got the same response as well. File is at NBC waiting for interview.

Hello Everyone, long time lurker, was great reading everyone's journeys. 

 

Wanted to provide a quick timeline for my journey! 

 

- Filed June 20

- Receipt notice on July 2nd

- Notification that Biometrics were being reused on July 4th.

- Interview scheduled notice on August 8th, interview scheduled for September 27th.

Unfortunately we were leaving for an international trip on July 26th. After a lot of googling and searching through visa journey and reddit about rescheduling, I decided it was necessary as we could not adjust the trip. Called the number on the letter and got through to someone right away who assisted with cancelling the interview and let me know I would be put back in the queue for scheduling. Gave them the reason for the reschedule (international trip) and she asked for the dates of the trip to add to the request.

 

- September 8th I received the rescheduled interview date for Oct 20, a week after I returned from the trip.

 

Interview went as smooth as possible considering the office was impacted by the AWS outage happening. Passed the civics test, and the reading and writing portion and was recommended for citizenship! Will now wait for my oath ceremony letter and date, which the officer said should be around the 2nd week of November. No questions about why I rescheduled the interview, request did not even come up during the interview process. 

Wanted to share my timeline here as someone who was successful with the reschedule, especially after reading all the responses to others asking about reschedules and the negative view on rescheduling! Waiting on the oath, but great to be one step closer to being a citizen!
