Whether this will satisfy the officer - your mileage may vary

True, in the end its a lot of subjectivity with the officer

however the above are IRS formal documents, those 2 combined are actually more (at least equal) info than Return Transcript only. (max is the 4th one- record of account)

in any case one can file From 4506-T and mail it to IRS to get paper copies of years before 2021

Also once you have either Return T or Record of Account - it will include all line items of the actual filing as well - if that helps any doubts

Hi everyone,

First off, thank you for all the valuable insights you’ve been sharing here.

I’ve been tracking my N-400 processing through the API and noticed something unusual in the “myProgress” updates.

After about 1-2 months after filing, my status showed like this up until this morning, it looked like

  • Display text: Interview scheduled

  • Milestone: 0

  • Milestone days remaining: 0

  • Overall: 190

  • Overall days remaining: 117

  • Start date: [Redacted]

  • Time until decision: ~3 months 😃

  • Time until next milestone: ""

Today I checked it and WOW::wow:

  • Display text: Interview scheduled

  • Milestone: 0

  • Milestone days remaining: 0

  • Overall: 190

  • Overall days remaining: 189

  • Start date: [Redacted]

  • Time until decision: ~7 months 😢

  • Time until next milestone: ""

So, in just one day, the estimate jumped from 3 months to 7 months — which feels pretty discouraging. I was really hoping to wrap up this immigration journey by the end of the year. For context, my 5-year anniversary is on Sept 23.

Does anyone know why this kind of sudden change happens? Could it just be a glitch, or does it actually mean delays are ahead?

And the bigger question: should I stop checking this every day and try not to obsess over it (definitely easier said than done)?

I really appreciate any insights. Some people seem so lucky to get everything done in just 3–5 months. Wishing the best to all of us who are waiting patiently and eagerly.

Can't say for sure ofcourse, but anecdotally, what you are seeing is actually a ggod sign. People have reported that they see their timeline increase just before they receive their interview invite. Mine bloated up the same way just a day or two after the interview invite.

What is your "last updated at" show? People have reported this inflation of timeline is also associated with a change in the last update date. It did for me too.

If this theory holds water, you may get interview invite early next week.

My understanding is, the return transcripts is what USCIS is interested in. That's what I uploaded. Was never asked about tax returns at the interview.

So they said that while the officer was looking through their transcripts, they saw that they owed taxes, and I guess they didn't have good enough proof about them being paid.

That's the reason I included the account transcript with mine, because it would show a 0 balance.

Thank you.

  • Milestone: 0

  • Milestone days remaining: 0

Does this have any significance? It has been like this forever. 😂

Also, let’s see what happens when I hit 5 year anniverdary next week!

This morning it was 7 months which increased to 9 months. No idea whats going on.

Interestingly, milestone days remaining and milestone have been 0 for last 2 months

It's a random number generator. I didn't check, but some people claimed it showed some estimates after they got naturalized and had their passport in hand. Paying attention to it can drive one crazy

What is your "updated at" date?

It would show up on this:

https://my.uscis.gov/account/case-service/api/cases/IOExxxxxxxxxx
