Is this normal now? I was not expecting them to request this form and not the other. My fiance lives in a country where mail is not delivered as it is in the US so getting him a signed copy of this other form will be a burden. The i-864 is used for green card financial proof while the i-134 for k-1 and less time visas. Have things changed??

@Edward and Jaycel This was sent within an email of the listed documents needed for the interview and the attached document for the medical exam requirements and locations where to obtain. I have emailed the embassy to question this necessity or if the I-134 is what they really need. The email seems like a templated email sent to everyone with this requirement however I have not heard of any embassy asking for that form as this is the form usually used within the US.

it sounds like a generic email they send to all visas processed by the immigrant visa section of the embasssy.

even though the K1 is nonimmigrant, it is processed by the immigrant visa section. they also process IR1/CR1 visas, which do require the I-864. they probably do more of those visas than K1s, so they probably don't see the need to have multiple templates

so you dont need the I-864, just the I-134
