Comments : My fiance was asked to bring his documents to the embassy after his medical exam April 23. Because he had been in Venezuela for more than 6 months but was never given a Venezuelan cedula number, they canceled his April 29 visa interview and required him bring evidence that he could not acquire a police certificate or evidence that he did not have a criminal record in Venezuela. He had a diplomatic passport. He wrote a letter explaining and brought evidence. They accepted his documents and scheduled a new visa appointment for May 20. He was put into administrative processing until they could verify Venezuela does not require diplomats to gain residency.

Event Description

Embassy Review : My fiance was interviewed by a woman officer. She said she was very nice and polite. She asked him some questions that included: How did we meet, What are the names of my adult children, What countries had he visited, and Where did I work, to name a few. She also spoke to him in English. When he didn't understand her, she asked how we communicated and he replied that we both have been learning each other's languages. Because he had been to Venezuela on a diplomatic passport for university, she questioned why he wasn't made to gain residency in Venezuela. He had provided all the evidence he could. She said she intended to approve his request but needed to verify his time in Venezuela first. This took 3-4 days. He was first placed in the 'refused' status on the CEAC website. On May 27, 2025, it changed to 'approved'. On May 28, it changed to 'issued'. I'm sure his passport will be ready either May 29 or 30 because sending there has been fairly quick with others this year. His appointment time was at 7 am however, everyone who was interviewed that day was scheduled at that time. He was one of the first to be interviewed.

They did have a document review a week before his initial interview which was supposed to be April 29. This is when they requested evidence of why he didn't have a police certificate from the time he went to university in Venezuela. They forced him to reschedule his interview date only after they reviewed his evidence a week later. At the second document review, they accepted all of his documents and scheduled another visa interview.
Rating : Very Good

Hi, you commented on my timeline a little while ago and I forgot to respond. Funny enough, you commented exactly 3 days before our case was approved! lol. The only advice I have is to be patient and download a good tracker app from the App Store to help you track the status without needing to go to the USCIS website every time. Good luck!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
